STATE TESTING ~ 5/13 - 5/23
3rd-5th Grade CAASPP Testing ~ 5/13 - 5/23
The purposed of the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) System is to assist teachers, administrators, students, and parents by promoting high-quality teaching and learning through the use of a variety of assessment approaches and item types.
This year testing will start on Tuesday, May 13th and will go through Friday, May 23rd. Testing is scheduled for two weeks because we only test students for an hour and a half each morning.
Here are a few helpful tips for making sure your student is ready to go for testing:
- Ensure they arrive to school on time (8:05 for 4/5th grade, 8:20 for 3rd grade)
- Please refrain from scheduling appointments in the mornings as that is when our testing will be taking place
- Make sure your student has a healthy breakfast each day (our cafeteria has the best school breakfast in all the county)
- Make sure students are well rested and in bed on time

CSEA Classified Appreciation Week ~ 5/19 - 5/23
Classified employees have earned respect as educators and partners in the education community. More importantly, they have become recognized as the essential frontline workers who keep our schools up and running while making a difference in the lives of the students they serve.
This week is a time for our communities, school districts, and elected leaders to recognize our classified staff. From transportation and food services to technology, maintenance, and direct classroom support, they are the backbone of California’s public schools. They may work behind the scenes, but their impact is front and center in the lives of millions of students!

LEADERIZE Alta Mesa!
HABIT HIGHLIGHT: HABIT 7
This month, we’re focusing on Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw, which is all about taking care of ourselves so we can do our best in school and in life. Students are learning that just like we need to sharpen a saw to keep it working effectively, we need to regularly renew our body, mind, heart, and spirit. Whether it’s getting enough sleep, spending time with family, reading a good book, or being active, these habits help students stay balanced, focused, and ready to learn. We encourage you and your child to try a few activities from our “Self-Renewal Menu” at home—it’s a fun and healthy way to finish the year strong!
