1st annual Smoky Hill Stampede Scramble
Join us for our 1st annual Smoky Hill Stampede Scramble (Golf Fundraiser) @ Meadow Hills Golf Course on Thursday May 28th, 2026.
Be the first to sign up for a fun day of golf, food, and prizes.
This event directly supports our Smoky Hill student-athletes by helping fund equipment, uniforms, travel, facility improvements, and program enhancements across all 27 sports. With a 52-year-old building and facilities, some programs need a little bit of a face lift. We are offering multiple levels of sponsorship and donation opportunities, making it easy for businesses and individuals to contribute at a level that is meaningful for them. Every gift, large or small, makes a difference. Please pass this information along to friends, families, and businesses. It would be a great time to get a team together with other Smoky Hill staff. If you want to assist with the event, let myself and Dawn know as we are building task list!
https://the-smoky-hill-stampede-scramble.perfectgolfevent.com/
All donations are tax-deductible, and sponsors will be recognized on our event website, social media, displayed during the tournament, and acknowledged throughout the day of the event. It’s a great opportunity to support our students while also gaining visibility within our Smoky Hill community.

Buffs Pantry Community Impact
Smoky Hill HS students have been working hard to keep our families in transition stocked with groceries, hygiene products, and clothing. On average, we serve about 53 community members per week. Since the year has begun, Call 2 Action has created over 527 personalized Smoky Hill bags for those families. This success is all thanks to your gracious donations back in September, which have been able to sustain us for the last several months.
Shout out to Kelly DiBlasi, who ensures that each student receives exactly what they need once we drop off our bags in counseling. We could not function so smoothly without your love and care!
This week, our Call 2 Action class was invited to attend the CSU Colorado Grow Youth Institute at the CSU Spur Campus. They each had to write a research paper regarding a country of their choice and an issue within that country that directed impacted a food insecurity. They are not only examining the effects and solutions of food disparities within our community, but from a global aspect as well. Additionally, last month, Call 2 Action also hosted Overland High School, Horizon Community Middle School, and Prairie Middle School in class so that they could model pantries like ours! If you know your student is in Call 2 Action, give them a shout out next time you see them. They are doing beautiful things for our school!
On May 1st, there is going to be another SNAP cut that will affect over 9,000 Colorado families. You can read more about this here: New SNAP cuts impact nearly 9,000 Coloradans | 9news.com Buff's Pantry is expecting another large influx of community members in need of our assistance soon. If you feel compelled to donate, here is our updated Amazon Wish List.

REPEATED INFORMATION
Athletic Field Policy Reminder
We hope this message finds you well and enjoying your time here at Smoky Hill. As part of our ongoing commitment to safety and well-being, I want to take a moment to clarify an important school policy regarding the use of our outdoor athletic fields.
Please be aware that students are not permitted to access any of the outdoor athletic fields without the direct supervision of Smoky Hill High School staff. This policy aligns with Cherry Creek School District Board Policies, which are designed to ensure a secure environment for all students across the district.
Students who violate this policy will receive school disciplinary consequences.
We understand how important these spaces are for sports and recreation, and we truly value the positive energy they bring to our campus. However, these facilities must be used responsibly and under proper supervision to help prevent accidents, misuse, or potential injury.
Whether you're participating in practice, a PE class, or another school-sponsored activity, our staff is here to support students and ensure that everyone remains safe. If you ever have questions about when and how the fields can be used, please don’t hesitate to speak with a teacher, coach, or administrator.
Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us maintain a safe and respectful environment for everyone at Smoky Hill. We’re proud of the responsibility and care our students demonstrate, and we appreciate your understanding of this important guideline.
Sincerely,
Dr. Andre Bala | Principal, Smoky Hill High School
Restoom Loitering
As we approach the end of the third quarter, excitement is already building among our students for the upcoming Spring Break. It’s a special time filled with joy, relaxation, and rejuvenation.
However, I would like to take a moment to address a growing concern at Smoky Hill: restroom loitering. Restroom loitering is when a student is in a restroom without using it for its intended purpose, including lingering, gathering with others, socializing, or remaining in the area for an extended period of time. This has become a problem at our school and at many schools across the country. At Smoky Hill, this has led to unsafe conditions, increased the likelihood of vaping, conflict, and vandalism, and has prevented students who need to use the restroom from doing so quickly and comfortably.
I want to be clear: Restroom loitering is not permitted and will no longer be tolerated at Smoky Hill High School. Any student found loitering in the restroom will be in direct violation of school rules and CCSD Board Policy JICDA (Student Conduct and Discipline Code, section I-5 ).
Beginning March 2, Smoky Hill High School will take immediate disciplinary action when students are found loitering in restrooms, including suspension.
Our restrooms must remain safe, clean, and accessible for every student, every period, every day. This stance is not about punishment for its own sake. It’s about protecting students’ well-being, ensuring a respectful environment, and making sure restrooms serve their intended purpose: a quick, private, and secure space for students to attend to basic biological needs.
Parents, I encourage you to have a conversation with your student about this communication and proper restroom behaviors. I also urge our students who struggle in making thoughtful, healthy choices to seek support from the school mental health team (School Counselors, Social Workers, School Psychiatrists, and Substance Abuse Specialist).
Thank you for your partnership as we strengthen expectations and keep Smoky Hill a safe and supportive place for all students.
Dr. Andre Bala | Principal, Smoky Hill High School
After School Student Pickup-South Parking Lot
Beginning this semester, the north parking lot (located on E. Smoky Hill Rd.) will no longer be accessible for after-school student pickup. To ensure a safe and efficient dismissal process, all after-school student pickup will take place in the south parking lot (located on E. Buffalo Way).
We appreciate your partnership as we make this adjustment. Shifting pickup to one designated area will help us improve traffic flow, reduce congestion, and support a smoother, safer experience for students, families, and staff.
Thank you for your cooperation and flexibility. We are grateful for your continued support as we work to keep our campus operations running safely and smoothly.
Warm regards,
Dr. Andre Bala | Principal, Smoky Hill High School
Buff Pantry
As a class, we have aimed to make a difference in our Smoky Hill community, and we decided to do this by creating a safe space where students can receive the food and hygiene products they need on a weekly basis. We offer multiple types of food, whether it’s canned/boxed or just quick snacks, hygiene products, baby products (diapers/wipes), and clothes/shoes. We receive donations from SECOR, the local community, students, and our CCSD district Food Pantry Liaisons. Last year, we were able to serve 70 families in total. Our goal is to limit food insecurity and strengthen our school holistically.
If you are in need: Here is the Buff's Pantry Google form link for you to fill out with your needs:https://forms.gle/NoraXVqzbxUYT4B8A
If you wish to donate: We are in need of the following items if you have any spare stock in your home or wish to purchase items from our list:
https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/2O6R74E3W2244?ref_=wl_share
Also, you can have your student drop these off at the main office or bring them to Mrs. Ogide's room (1-11). We will also be running donation drives throughout the year. Stay tuned!
