Naming Survey #1

Hello, OASD Families, Staff and Community,

As our district plans for the opening of our new westside middle school in Fall 2028, we are inviting students, families, staff, and community members to share input on potential names for the new school.

The new middle school will consolidate South Park Middle School and Perry Tipler Middle School, and will be built on the site of the former Shapiro STEM Academy.

• All submitted name suggestions will be reviewed by the OASD Facility and Finance Committee to identify 3-4 finalist names.
• A second community survey will be available in October, asking people to pick their favorite among the finalists.
• The results will be provided to the OASD school board to make a final selection. Per board policy 7250.01, the board is responsible for the naming of district facilities. The survey results are not binding but will factor into the board’s decision as part of the selection process.

The new westside middle school is one component of Phase 2 of the District’s long-range facilities plan, which received voter support through the success of the District’s 2025 capital referendum.
