Principal Message
❤️💙 Week 11: Spirit, Support & Stronger Connections! ❤️💙
❤️💙 JDA Families,
We have a busy week ahead! As we continue refining our campus systems, our focus remains on providing intentional support for students and keeping families informed and connected.
Here are a few important updates:
📱 Rooms Communication: Teachers sent messages through Rooms this past week. Please confirm that you received a message. If you did not receive any, contact us so we can check your account and troubleshoot any issues.
🎉 Spirit Week: Review this week's daily themes with your student! We encourage everyone to participate, but dress code expectations still apply every day.
📚 Tutorials Begin This Week! We are launching our updated tutorial model:
Closed Tutorials: By invitation only, based on identified academic needs. These sessions will continue through the next progress report. If your student was invited, please prioritize their attendance.
Homework Center: Available Monday–Thursday for students needing additional time or support with assignments.
Registration Required: All students must either register themselves or ask a teacher to add them to a session.
A Note About Our Tutorial Model: We organize academic support into three-week sprints leading up to each progress report or report card (three sprints per nine weeks). This is our first sprint using the new tutorial model, and we intentionally provided flexibility to identify what works and what needs improvement. At the end of the sprint, we'll gather feedback, review results, and make adjustments before the next round. Thank you for your patience and partnership as we build a stronger system of student support!
⚡ TL;DR — What Families Need to Know

🎉 Spirit Week: Review daily themes; dress code applies.
📚 Closed Tutorials: Invited students should attend through the next progress report.
✏️ Homework Center: Monday–Thursday; registration required for all sessions.
🔄 Tutorial Sprints: We're piloting, gathering feedback, and refining our approach every three weeks.
Thank you for trusting us with your children and partnering with us as we continue making an Intentional Impact by Design!

Check out our JDA Family Help Center!
Introducing the JDA Family Help Center!
During our Fall Break focus groups, we heard a clear message: families need an easier way to find JDA-specific information.
While our website provides helpful district resources, many of our campus procedures, how-to guides, and FAQs have been buried in lengthy newsletters, making them difficult to find when families need them.
We're changing that!
Our new JDA Family Help Center will be your go-to resource for campus procedures, frequently asked questions, family support, feedback, and updates on our campus goals and progress.
Here's the difference:
JDA Family Help Center: Where families find answers, resources, and support—anytime.
Roadrunner Revue: Where families stay connected to what's happening at JDA each week.
This is a work in progress, and we're just getting started! We'll continuously add resources, refine our processes, and develop new how-to guides based on what our families need. We appreciate your patience as we build this into a comprehensive, easy-to-use resource for our JDA community.
Less searching. Shorter newsletters. Easier access. Greater transparency.
We're listening, we're improving, and we're making it easier to stay connected with JDA!
**COMING SOON**
Updated call tree options when you call the campus.

Introducing Ms. Cheri Diaz, our new Parent Liaison!
Greetings, JDA Community!
My name is Cheri Diaz, and I am thrilled to join the team this year as your Parent Liaison at JDA Middle School. Originally from Southern California, I earned my master’s degree in early childhood education from the American College of Education.
I have spent most of my career working with children and youth. In 2007, with the support of local organizations and grant funding, I created a 5-star nationally accredited early learning center for infants through kindergarten. I subsequently opened two additional campuses, expanding our capacity to serve 250 children.
I moved to Central Texas full-time in 2024 to help care for an elderly relative and have grown to love this community. One of my favorite aspects of running early childhood centers was fostering deep connections between the school, parents, and the community.
Outside of work, I enjoy supporting local animal rescues, trying new recipes, and planning summer trips to Disneyland or Yosemite! I look forward to partnering with our parents and community to support the growth and achievement of all our students.

Capturing Kids Hearts:
October's Character Trait is Self-Direct! This month, we’re challenging students to envision future goals and take intentional steps toward who they want to be. We are partnering with you to grow and develop your child’s ability to self-direct. We can model self-direction by celebrating the positive in each day, seeking the good in others, and emphasizing our responsibility to make positive choices.
Engage: Find the Good! Self-direct your thoughts and share Good Things as a family each day. After school, around the dinner table, or before bed, ask each family member to share something good from the day. We often see what we seek! Let’s focus on finding the good.
Conversation Starter: What is one way you can be more responsible at home or school?
Youth Sponsorship Program:
Are you (or your student) passionate about creating a welcoming, supportive campus for all students? Join the JDA Youth Sponsorship Program (YSP), a student-led initiative bridging military and civilian communities through mentorship, service, and belonging. The only requirement to join is to have a kind heart and an open mind!
