Ashland Preschool Weekly Update

Hi, everyone,

Well, we had a few days of a winter wonderland! We all enjoyed playing in the snow. It's winter clothing time! Please pay attention to your child's classroom teacher's instructions on whether they should be coming to school dressed for outdoor recess or with items in an extra bag for recess at a later time.

Kindergarten registration is Saturday, January 28 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Students who are currently enrolled with us at the Ashland Preschool do not need to register. Your child should have brought home a letter from Mr. Regan in their red folders earlier this week regarding Kindergarten. Please let us know if you did not receive it or have any questions.

Our students will participate in outdoor recess as much as possible throughout the school year. The guideline of "Feels like temperature of 20 degrees or warmer" is used to determine if it will be indoor or outdoor recess. This includes the effect of the wind-chill if it is a breezy day. That temperature can change throughout the day, so we ask the PittCrew to monitor The Weather Channel around their recess times.

Now that the weather is quickly changing, please remember to send your children in layers, as well as outdoor clothing, on a consistent basis. This includes sweatshirts, a warm winter coat, hat and mittens/gloves. When snow is on the ground, students will need boots and snowpants to play in the snowy areas. If they don't have these items, they will stay on the pavement.

Kindergarten registration is underway. Students must be five years of age on or before August 31, 2023 to start Kindergarten. Students who are currently enrolled at the Ashland Preschool do not need to register. For more information, visit ashland.k12.ma.us/KinderRegistration.
