Dear Champion Families,

We are excited to welcome February to Chattahoochee! During this month in which one takes stock in the many ways we show and feel love, we are so thankful to our families for their love and support! Building on the fabulous BINGO night event, February will bring more ways our Champion community will connect and thrive. World Read Aloud Day was a fabulous kick-off for the month. We hosted students from East Forsyth High School who connected with our Champions through story-reading in our classrooms!

Our PBIS initiatives are thriving and a big “shout out” goes to our amazing counselors and their PBIS teams for their leadership. We were honored to be recognized as a Distinguished PBIS School at the Board of Education and will host 30 visitors during our PBIS Climate Showcase Celebration. It is only fitting that we recognize our counselors and their treasured work with our students and families during National School Counseling Appreciation week!

The February fun will include BIG LOVE for our fabulous SRO, Officer Cheek, on National School Resource Officer Day (Feb. 13). On Saturday, February 14th, we will continue our community connections as we host The Place, the Forsyth Community Clinic, the Forsyth County Mobile Library and Local Church will be back on campus to serve our families with hot chocolate, a Valentine’s activity, and bounce houses.

STEAM Night is set for February 24th! Families will not want to miss this evening of engagement filled with fun activities focusing on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math!

February finishes in fine fashion with our PTO sponsored FAMILY DANCE! This year’s dance will take place on February 27th and will be held at East Forsyth High School in their spacious cafeteria to accommodate the growing number of participants! We are excited to see ALL of our families enjoy a night of music and Champion community connection. See below for ticket information.

We truly feel the love and care showered on us from our Chattahoochee community each day!

With appreciation,

Jill

✨ Family STEAM Night Is Coming! ✨

Mark your calendars for Tuesday, February 24 and get ready for one of our most-loved events of the year—Title I Family STEAM Night!

🚪 Doors open at 5:15 PM, and we’ll begin with a brief classroom meeting promptly at 5:30 PM. During this time, families will learn about their student’s progress in school and pick up helpful tips for supporting math and science learning at home.

After the meeting, the fun really begins! From 5:45–7:00 PM, families are invited to explore classrooms filled with hands-on STEAM activities and experiments led by NFHS and EFHS Science Ambassadors, including:

  • 🚀 Designing and launching your own rocket

  • 🥽 Exploring with Virtual Reality goggles

  • 🧮 Playing engaging math games

  • 🔬 And many more interactive challenges!

This event is always a favorite for students and families alike, and we hope you’ll join us for an evening of learning, creativity, and fun. We can’t wait to see you there! 🎉

We will be recognizing students in March who consistently lead like a Champion. Those students who have 3 or fewer attendance marks and no major behavior referrals between January 6 and March 2 will be invited to the surprise recognition taking place during Pathways on March 5. Let’s all be present and lead like a Champion!

Digital Citizenship Digital Citizenship

This February, our Digital Citizenship focus is Privacy and Cyber Awareness. In a world where we are more connected than ever, teaching students how to protect their personal information is a vital life skill. This month, we are helping students understand that their data is valuable and must be guarded carefully against hackers and strangers.

What Students Are Learning This Month

Through our curriculum, students will explore how to be the gatekeepers of their own information. Key topics include:

  • Defining Private Info: Identifying what should never be shared online, such as full names, home addresses, birthdates, and school locations.

  • Stronger Passwords: Learning how to create complex "digital locks" for their accounts and why passwords should never be shared with friends.

  • Smart Identities: Practicing the use of avatars and creative screen names instead of real photos or identifying details.

  • Recognizing Red Flags: Training to spot suspicious links, "too good to be true" offers, and the reality that people online are not always who they claim to be.

How to Support at Home

You are our best partners in keeping students safe. Here are a few quick ways to reinforce these lessons:

  • The "Ask First" Rule: Encourage your child to always check with you before downloading a new app or creating a new account.

  • Username Check: Review your child’s favorite games or apps together. Ensure they are using a nickname and an avatar rather than their real name or personal photo.

  • Discuss "Stranger Danger" Online: Remind them that if someone they don’t know asks for their location or personal details, they should tell you immediately.

By working together, we can help our students enjoy the benefits of technology while staying safe and secure.

PTO PTO

Absence Reminders

If your student is marked absent and you use our school QR code attendance form to indicate a medical excuse, please remember that the actual medical documentation must be submitted to the front office.

You may send the medical excuse in one of the following ways:

  • Email it directly to the front office (chattattendance@forsyth.k12.ga.us), or
  • Send it through your student’s teacher

This helps us ensure that all absences are properly documented and excused. Thank you for your attention to this matter and for helping us maintain accurate attendance records.
