Important Announcement for All Winthrop Families
We have some truly exciting news to share with the Winthrop community!
We are thrilled to announce that we have successfully hired a full-time school nurse here at Winthrop School.
Please Welcome Mrs. Alison Moon!
Mrs. Moon will be starting the first week of December.
Mrs. Moon brings many years of valuable experience as a nurse.
She is already familiar with our community, having previously served as a substitute nurse here in Ipswich. This means she is already acquainted with our school routines and expectations!
We would like to sincerely thank all families for your patience and understanding as we navigated the interview and hiring process to fill this critical position.
Welcome aboard, Mrs. Alison Moon! We are delighted to have her join the Winthrop team and look forward to the excellent care and support she will provide our students.
End of Term Wrap Up at Winthrop school
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
We are officially wrapping up Term One, and what a fantastic start to the school year it has been! Thank you all for your incredible support and engagement during this first term.
We especially appreciate the time you have been taking to attend the recent parent-teacher conferences. These meetings are vital for building a strong partnership and ensuring your child's success. Your commitment makes a significant difference!
Cold Weather Reminder: Dress for Recess
As the temperature continues to drop, we want to share a friendly reminder about outdoor recess:
We go outside daily: We will continue to head out for fresh air and movement during recess, even as the weather gets colder.
Please dress your child warmly: Layers are key! Please ensure your child comes to school wearing a warm coat, hat, and gloves/mittens.
Need assistance? If you are in need of extra winter clothing (coats, hats, gloves, etc.) for your child, please do not hesitate to reach out to the school office or their teacher. We have resources available and are happy to help supply what you need!
Celebrating Our School Values
We are so proud of the students for demonstrating exceptional behavior and citizenship across the school! Students have been doing a great job on the playground and at recess, consistently remembering and following the rules.
Our focus remains on our core school values:
Respect: Treating others and our environment with kindness and care.
Responsibility: Being prepared for learning and owning their actions.
Safety: Making smart choices to keep themselves and others safe.
We encourage you to continue these conversations about respect, responsibility, and safety at home.
Thank You

Native American Artifacts and Birds of Prey at the Ipswich Public Library.
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Sponsored by the Ipswich Public Library, this program will be held at Ipswich Town Hall, 25 Green Street, on Saturday, November 22 at 11 a.m.
Join Jim Parks from Wingmasters for this amazing presentation, Native American Artifacts and Birds of Prey, which includes live birds. This program is recommended for children ages 6 and up. Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult caregiver. Teens and adults will enjoy this program also. Registration is required at www.ipswichlibrary.org/events
Native Americans revered birds of prey for their majestic appearance as well as for their hunting prowess.
To invoke the spirit of these powerful predators, Native peoples followed the ancient tradition of wearing or carrying bird of prey feathers. They also admired the subtle beauty of raptor feathers, from the black-and-white tail feathers of juvenile golden eagles to the wing feathers of hawks and falcons, patterned with arrowhead-shaped markings. The strong connection between raptors and Native Americans suggested this program. It combines four live birds of prey with authentic artifacts, many of museum quality, and both explains and shows how different Native American cultures transformed natural materials into objects of beauty and drama.
Crafts displayed at this program range from shields and headdresses to clothing and jewelry. Beadwork, quillwork and basketry are showcased as well.

Green Team -Seed Saving Workshop
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Last week, Winthrop students made "seed catchers", constructed with sticks and packing tape, to collect a variety of seeds from the Winthrop grounds. Stay tuned for upcoming Green Team workshops where we will sort and sow these seeds!
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
