How to register for Diploma Exam Prep Sessions
REGISTRATION will open October 26 and close the Friday before each session (or when full).
If your child is already attending an EIPS school in the current year, you can register and pay for Diploma Prep courses by logging into the PowerSchool Parent Portal the same way you usually do to pay fees. You do not need to create a new Parent Portal account to register for Diploma Prep.
Once you are logged into the Parent Portal...
- Select the student fees icon (the green dollar sign) under the navigation menu
- Click on the appropriate student’s name tab that you want to register
- Select the appropriate Next Step Diploma Prep course(s) in which you’d like to register
- Pay for the item/s in your cart
Students are not considered registered unless payment for the Diploma Prep course is made at the time of check-out.
Please note: Each of your children already attending an EIPS school must be linked to your Parent Portal account in order for you to be able to view and pay their fees through this system. Visit our PowerSchool page for instructions on how to create a Parent Portal account and link all of your children to that single account.

GRAD CLASS OF 2027
GRADUATION LIST
On Monday October 26th, a list of students will be posted outside the main office to indicate if they are on track to achieve their diploma as per Alberta Education requirements. This list will not include any names and will be posted by ASN in a randomized (non-alphabetical order). If a student's ASN is not listed, this indicates they are not on track to graduate and would not (at this point in time) being participating in the May graduation ceremony. Students in this position would need to connect with either Mrs. Matheson (dion.matheson@eips.ca) or Mr. Johnson (sandy.johnson@eips.ca) to receive support and clarify what elements they are missing from the requirements. Common reasons for missed diploma achievement may include such things as missing a class in their timetable, currently failing a required class, or short the credit counts in specific categories. Our hope is to notify students in this way again in March and once more at the beginning of May so that we can best support them in being on track to meet the requirements and able to participate in the graduation ceremony. If you have any questions, please reach out to Mr. Johnson at any time!

FROM EIPS
Inclement Weather
- With the winter season almost here, the school has a few reminders for families:
- Ensure students have clothing appropriate for expected weather conditions.
- If weather conditions are bad enough to impact student transportation, Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) advises families directly, and posts updates on social media and eips.ca.
- Decisions regarding bus cancellations are guided by an EIPS administrative procedure that states, “school bus service may be suspended…when there is a forecast or current temperature of -40 C, including wind chill factor, in one or more regions.” Other reasons for suspending or delaying school bus services include adverse weather and poor road conditions.
- When school bus services are suspended, schools remain open to students.
For more information, contact EIPS Student Transportation at 780-417-8151.
Caregiver Series
Alberta Health Services is hosting a series of virtual caregiver information sessions focused on ways to support students’ mental health. The sessions are free and geared toward parents, caregivers, teachers and community members who want to learn more about challenges impacting children and adolescents. This November’s sessions are focused on understanding anxiety.
Visit Caregiver Education to see the monthly caregiver sessions.
Pay School Fees Online!
Wondering when and how to pay for school fees? School fee information for the 2026-27 school year will be posted on the PowerSchool Parent Portal in late September. All fees are due within 30 days of being posted. NOTE: Additional fees may be added throughout the year—for example, at the beginning of each semester, as your child takes part in various activities, or they may be adjusted by changes in selected optional courses in junior and senior high school. If you’re unable to pay your school fees, you can apply to have certain fees waived. The application deadline is Dec. 15, 2026.
For more information, visit the school website, under the About > Fees tab. Alternatively, contact our Business Manager, Jennifer Gibson at jennifer.gibson@eips.ca or at 780-464-7127.
