Principal's Update
Dear Parkview Families,
I hope everyone had a wonderful three-day weekend and was able to enjoy the cooler weather with your families! Our next three-day weekend will be in October, with no school on Monday, October 5, per the CUSD calendar. If you are in need of childcare that day, our BLAST program will be hosting Monday Camp right here at Parkview. Please make sure to complete the registration form by Friday, September 11.
September is all about raising money and getting ready for our biggest fundraiser of the year… Panther Prowl!
Your student should have come home with an envelope and flyer explaining how to register through FundHub. Students can set their own fundraising goal, and there are lots of fun prizes along the way as they reach different fundraising levels. Every dollar raised goes toward supporting our students and programs here at Parkview.
We will also need plenty of help on the day of Panther Prowl! We’ll be looking for lap counters and other volunteers throughout the event. Be on the lookout for a SignUpGenius link with shifts and opportunities to help. Because Panther Prowl is considered a one-time event, volunteers do not need regular volunteer clearance to be on campus that day.
Panther Prowl takes place Friday, September 25, so the countdown is officially on! Keep raising those funds and getting those running legs ready for what is always a great day at Parkview.
We also have two fun opportunities coming up to get out into the community while supporting Parkview!
This Thursday, September 10, from 11:00 AM–10:00 PM, Savor will donate 5% of its profits back to Parkview PTO. It is supposed to be HOT on Thursday, so it sounds like the perfect excuse to grab a sweet treat while raising money for our school!
Then, next Friday, our 5th graders will hold their first fundraiser of the year for Environmental Camp. Kiddos Play Place will donate 40% of admission proceeds to our camp fundraiser. Come on out, let the kids play out those Friday wiggles, and help our 5th graders get one step closer to camp!
There is a lot happening at Parkview this September, and we appreciate our families for continuing to show up and support our school. Here’s to a great short week ahead!

Counselor's Corner
Core Value of the Month - Compassion
The Core Essential Value for September is Compassion: caring enough to do something about someone else's needs. Counselors will teach lessons about what it means to be compassionate and a student from each class will be recognized as Student of the Month for demonstrating compassion and recieve recognition with a special lunch with Mrs. Cunniff.
Every month, Parkview focuses on a value word or “Big Idea” to instill core values in students, fostering good citizenship, positive relationships, and academic success. The monthly value of September is compassion. As your family settles into the busy rhythm of being back at school, take a few moments to talk with your child about the value of compassion: caring enough to do something about someone else’s needs. Throughout September, teachers will be looking for students who put compassion into action as they consider their Student of the Month selections.
Ask your child:
- What are some signs that someone might need help, even if they don’t ask for it?
- What is one small thing you could do this week to make someone else’s day a little better?
Share with your child:
- A time when a small act of kindness or compassion made a difference for you.
- A reminder that compassion doesn’t always mean fixing someone’s problem—it can be as simple as listening, including someone, offering encouragement, or noticing when someone needs a little kindness.

Welcome Message From PTO President, Michelle Morris
Welcome to a new school year! The Parkview Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) supports our teachers and staff by fundraising and hosting events to enhance the in and out of classroom student experience and to build community among families. Last year we raised over $72,000 and funded field trips, 5th Grade Adventure Week, the October Harvest Festival, and supported the STEM Lab, Library, and Wellness Center.
Save the date for our first general PTO meeting, Thursday, September 3, 6 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room (MPR), and stay tuned for information about our September fall fundraiser, the Panther Prowl Jog-a-thon. We are still accepting Panther Prowl business sponsors if you’d like your business logo on this year’s t-shirt. Have a great week.
Encontrarás información en inglés y español sobre los eventos de PTO en los folletos colocados fuera de la escuela.

The following are required to register your child:
- Proof of date of birth (birth certificate, birth record, passport, baptismal certificate, affidavit of the parent, guardian or custodian of the minor or other legal proof),
- Two forms verifying proof of residency, and

Children must be immunized for MMR - measles, mumps and rubella (German measles), polio, DTaP - diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis (whooping cough), Hepatitis B, and Varicella (chicken pox) prior to school entry. State law requires students beginning Kindergarten have all required immunizations. Students missing immunizations will not be able to start school until we received these records.
Breakfast and Before School Care
Our MPR is open at 6:45 for students who need before school care. Students do not need to register in advance. Breakfast is served starting at 7:45 and ends at 8:15. Gates open at 8:05 for students to head to classrooms, put their backpacks down, and then walk to the playground. Any parent wishing to assist their child with breakfast or sit with them while they eat, will need to check in the office and go to the wellness center, which opens at 7:45 AM. To respect student privacy and safety we ask that parents do not stay with their child in the MPR or on the playground..
