SALYARDS MIDDLE SCHOOL
Back to School Edition - August 3rd, 2026
MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL MILLER
Welcome to another edition of the Bengal Newsletter! As we get closer to the start of another incredible school year, excitement continues to build here at Salyards. We are especially excited to welcome two outstanding new administrators to our Bengal family - Mrs. Barron and Mr. Morrow! You'll find more information about each of them below, so thank you for giving them a warm Salyards welcome.
You may also notice that this newsletter arrived a little sooner than expected - and you're right! Beginning this year, we've moved from a monthly newsletter to a bi-monthly publication. With so many events, important reminders, and celebrations happening throughout the year, we are committed to doing an even better job of keeping our families informed and connected here at Salyards.
We can't wait to see our families at Bengal Express this Thursday, welcome our incoming sixth graders for ROAR Camp on Monday, and then officially kick off the 2026–2027 school year by welcoming all our students next Wednesday, August 12th! It's going to be an amazing year, and we're so grateful to have you as part of our Bengal family.
Bengals Believe!

SCHOOL POLICIES TO BE AWARE OF
Clear Backpack Policy
CFISD requires all high school and middle school students to use clear backpacks. Students participating in an extracurricular activity are permitted to carry non-transparent bags to store items pertaining to their particular activity (i.e. band, athletics, etc.). Upon entry into the school, all extracurricular activity bags must be stored in lockers or designated areas. All bags are subject to search. Additionally, the maximum size for non-transparent bags that students in grades 6-12 are permitted to carry during the school day, such as lunch kits, pencil bags and purses, will be 6” x 9”.
Personal Device Policy
A new Texas law (House Bill 1481) requires school districts to prohibit student use of all personal communication devices during the school day. Therefore, Cypress-Fairbanks ISD is updating its personal communication device policy. Click here to read more about CFISD's Personal Device Policy.
