From the Principal... From the Principal...

Welcome to a new school year at Chiddix Junior High! I am honored to serve as your new principal and excited to begin this journey with our Charger community. Our school theme this year, Charging Forward Together, reflects our commitment to working as one community to support every student's success. Middle school is a time of growth, new opportunities, and meaningful connections. As students learn, take on new challenges, build friendships, and discover their strengths, we will continue to move forward together with purpose, perseverance, and Charger pride.

We know there is a great deal of information that comes your way as the school year approaches. The purpose of this newsletter is to provide families with information you'll need to prepare for a successful start to the year. We encourage both students and families to read each edition when it arrives.

Below you'll find important information about the beginning of the school year, answers to frequently asked questions, and helpful links for your reference. Our next family newsletter will be published on Friday, August 7, when student schedules will be released along with additional back-to-school information. Until then, continue to enjoy a safe, relaxing, and well-deserved summer.

Welcome, Charger families!

I am honored and excited to introduce myself as the new principal of Chiddix Junior High. I am beginning my 17th year in education, while entering my 10th year in administration. I earned my Master of Arts in Educational Policy, Organization, and Leadership from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and am currently pursuing a Doctor of Education in P-12 Educational Administration with a superintendent endorsement at Illinois State University.

My husband, Levell, and I are proud to call Normal home, where we are raising our four children—Love, Kai, Omari, and Jaden. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family, coaching and playing sports, hiking, and seeking out new adventures.

I am truly excited to become a Chiddix Charger! I look forward to getting to know our students, families, and staff while building on the strong traditions and great work already taking place at Chiddix. Together, we will foster a school community where every student feels valued, challenged, and supported as we continue Charging Forward Together.

y name is Daniel Tripp and I'm proud to once again serve as the Associate Principal and Activities Director for the 2026-2027 Chargers!

A graduate of Sandwich High School in 2003, I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education (Magna Cum Laude) from Western Illinois University in 2008. I received my Master's of Arts in Educational Administration from Eastern Illinois University in 2014 and received a Master's of Music Education from Vandercook College of Music in 2021. Starting this August, I will be pursuing a Doctorate of Educational Leadership at Illinois State University. I have worked as a band director all over the state for 14 years and this is will be my 5th year in administration.

My wife, Brenna, is an employee at State Farm and we have two children, Maddox (4th Grade at Fairview) and Donovan (1st Grade at Fairview). My hobbies include golfing, pickleballing, grilling/smoking meat, coaching youth sports, attending White Sox games, jamming on various instruments, playing various video and board games with family, and reading. My wife and I serve on the Worship Team of The Vineyard Church of Bloomington-Normal.

My job is to ensure that every child that walks into Chiddix is given the opportunity to learn, grow, and be themselves in a safe, secure environment. I can not wait to get to work with you and your children as we navigate these all-important years of their junior high experience.

I am excited to be joining the Chiddix team this year! My name is Courtney Eddleman, and although I was born and raised in Springfield, Illinois, Bloomington has been home for the past 24 years. My husband, Brock, and I have enjoyed raising our three children here. Our oldest son, Warren, graduated from Bloomington High School this spring and will attend Illinois State University this fall to study music education. Our younger children, Jack and Lyla, will be sophomores at Bloomington High School this year.

When I'm not at school, you'll usually find me cheering on my kids at their activities. I also enjoy attending live music events and traveling to concerts whenever I get the chance. One of the highlights of my summer has been helping care for my daughter's new puppy, who has certainly kept our family active and entertained!

I look forward to getting to know the students, families, and staff at Chiddix and being part of such a wonderful school community. It's going to be a great year!

School Supply List School Supply List

Please click below for our 6th, 7th, and 8th grade school supply lists. Items requested help students and teachers in the many tasks and activities they will complete throughout the school year!

Once students learn of their team assignment, please purchase items under specific team requests.

We also ask that you continue to supplement your student with pens/pencils as this is the most lost and needed commodity throughout the school year! Thank you for your support!!

Before School Supervision Before School Supervision

Please note we will be offering a before school supervision program for families that are interested. Students will be supervised by a teacher from 7:20 a.m. - 8:20 a.m. At that time, students would join the rest of the students in the gym/cafeteria. Parents will be responsible for transporting their child to school each day.

The program fee is $85.00 per quarter (which equates to about $2.00 per day). The fee needs to be paid prior to the quarter starting. There will be no refund if a student does not attend on any given day. Students that are continued disruptions may be removed from the program.
