York High School Weekly Memo
Some thoughts for the starting school year

Hi Everyone,
I hope everyone had a great break. The students and staff who traveled to the Galapagos Islands, Ecuador, Machu Picchu, Peru, and Florence, Italy had the BEST time. I am so thankful for these opportunities for our students. They will be sharing their experiences next week at our full-school assembly.
We are excited to have our official GRAND opening of the athletic complex tomorrow afternoon. It is something we have been looking forward to for a while (at least since we broke ground in April 2025). We hope to see you there!
Thank you to all of our families who have offered to support our Staff Appreciation Week (May 4-8). If you are interested in donating (money, gift cards for raffles, food for a potluck lunch), please email asuttie@yorkschools.org (or drop off the donation at YHS 7:30-3:30). It is going to be a GREAT week celebrating our wonderful staff!
Tomorrow, we are excited to celebrate National Student Decision Day, a milestone event that honors our seniors' hard work, dedication, and the diverse paths they have chosen for their next chapters. Whether our students are finalizing college commitments, enrolling in trade programs, enlisting in the military, or preparing to enter the workforce, this day serves as a collective recognition of their incredible efforts to reach this turning point. We congratulate those who have already made their commitments and offer our full support to those still thoughtfully navigating their final decisions. To mark this achievement, we encourage all seniors to share their excitement with friends, family, and faculty by wearing their college, career, or military gear tomorrow.
Enjoy the rest of your week, and as always, if you need anything or have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Thanks,
Amanda
Spring Testing Updates
Thank you to all of our students who have already completed their NWEA and MTYA. If they missed a day, we will be providing make-up opportunities. Ms. Monaco will reach out to your student to schedule. We have AP exams starting next week -- the full schedule is detailed below. If there are AP-specific questions, please connect with Brianne Griffin.
