PIC Parent Update
November 21, 2025
Message from Principal Tekiela
Parent(s)/Guardian(s),
November has breezed by here at PIC. I can hardly believe Thanksgiving is on Thursday. The students have been enjoying voting on their favorite Thanksgiving foods in our Holiday Food Battle. We should have a winner by the time you read this.
Last week we challenged students to spend additional time on Boost Reading. Boost Reading is part of our reading curriculum and it's our goal is for every student to work 40-60 minutes on Boost. But did you know that students can also have fun practicing on Boost at home? Boost is ideal for personalized practice at home. Students can use it on their own (no adult supervision needed!) on their school Chromebook.
Regular usage can help students extend their reading growth wherever they use the program, and we encourage students to do so. You can learn more about how you can support your child on Boost in the Boost Reader Caregiver Hub that is below.

Bus Transportation Change Update 9/22/25
With the increase in students on bus routes this year, we are no longer able to allow extra passengers to ride home with other students. Families will need to make alternate arrangements for these situations.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding and support.
School Attendance
We encourage families to ensure that their students arrive at school on time every day. We recognize that there are valid reasons for students to miss school occasionally. To help keep everyone informed, we send attendance reminder letters at 7, 10, and 14 absences. Additionally, we collaborate with Will County Truancy Officers to provide extra support services for families in need. The attendance team at PIC is dedicated to partnering with families for their success. Please feel free to reach out to our office or Principal Tekiela with any questions or concerns.
PTO News
1. Poppin' with Joy!
Our Double Good Popcorn fundraiser has officially wrapped up, and because of YOU, we raised $5,000 directly for our schools! From every share, every purchase, every little bit of encouragementโyou showed up for our students in such a big way. Your support helps us fund the experiences, supplies, and opportunities that make our schools shine. We truly could not do this without our amazing families, teachers, and community.
2. Gift Card Raffle Trees
Each year the Pancake Breakfast offers a variety of raffle items and one of the FAVORITES are the grade level/school raffle trees! We are continuing our tradition and need your support! Please help us trim the tree with gift cards that match the theme for your grade level/school. Letters are being sent home with your student with more details and the theme for each grade level. You can also donate directly to your grade level through our online store Donate Online to Gift Card Raffle Trees

The PTO Pancake Breakfast is Saturday, December 13th from 8am-12pm. This event literally "takes a village" to make it happen - we need kitchen volunteers throughout the morning.
