Message from Ms. Melgar
Thank You
Thank you to all parents who supported the Fall Fundraiser. Sales were definitely not as robust as last year but as you know, every little bit counts! We had 60 students participate and made a total of $3200 towards our Student Body for field trips and admission fees. Just wanted to send a shout out to our top 10 sellers!

Getting Jiggy with Grands!
Monday, September 29th
This event is for grandparents and grandkids only. Please remind grandparents that we will hosting a Hawaiian Themed getaway for grandkids/grandparents. Grandparents will be sent directly to MPR upon arrival. Students will come to MPR at 8:20, right after breakfast in the classroom. Teachers have been given a roster of all the students' grandparents who have RSVPed so teachers know exactly who to send. We will have dancing in the MPR and refreshments in the lunch pavilion. Grandparents will also get a little gift at the exit gate. I'll be sure to collect a lot of photos and videos to share. 🥰
I am reposting the flyer information here. However, please note it is too late to register. Registration closed on 9/24 and that's the headcount we have prepared for. Thanks for your support!
Safety Child
Tuesday, September 30th
The Child ID Program will be taking photos at our school on Tuesday, September 30th. If you would like your child to participate, please return the order form to your child's teacher on the photo day. Only students purchasing Safety ID will be photographed on Tuesday.
Echoices
Wednesday, October 1st
Echoices is the platform parents use to sign up for LAUSD's magnet programs. You can also sign up via the Parent Portal. This enrollment window is specifically for the 26-27 school year.
The Los Angeles Unified magnet schools/centers are voluntary integration programs that provide rigorous, high-quality, theme-based instruction designed to facilitate student learning and promote academic achievement. Established in 1977, the magnet programs within our District have been one of the most successful in the nation. Currently, there are 334 magnet programs located throughout the District. All District students, including English learners, standard English learners, students with disabilities, and gifted/talented are encouraged to apply.
If you are currently in our Neighborhood School and are interested in either of our magnet program, you must sign up starting October 1st.
If you are currently in our Environmental Science Magnet program and are meeting or exceeding grade level standards in the core content areas, you may apply for our Gifted Magnet program. Students in our gifted magnet program do not have to be identified as gifted as it is also a high ability/high achievement magnet.
If you are currently in our Gifted Magnet program and plan to stay in the program for the 26-27 school year, you do not need to do anything. If you wish to switch to our Science Magnet, then you apply for that program.
Don't miss out! Oh, and check this out! One of our student was featured in the Magnet Brochure! Way to go Sofia!
