Annual Testing Notification

New Jersey school districts, charter schools, and renaissance school projects are required by statute (N.J.S.A. 18A: 7C-6.6) to annually notify parents or guardians by October 1 or within 30 days of any additional statewide student assessment or commercially developed standardized assessment that will be administered over the course of the school year. It is important to note that not all students may be administered all assessments. Additionally, the allotted time frames are approximate timeframes, and students may be permitted extra time or accommodations as outlined in an IEP or 504**.

The district's list of assessments for the 2026-2027 school year can be found below. Please do not hesitate to contact your child’s school if you have any questions.

2026-2027 Annual Testing Notification
  • Students in grades K-3 were screened as part of the New Jersey Literacy Screener mandate. In accordance with this mandate, all screening results will be shared with families. Be on the lookout for more information with your student's results.
  • Students in grade 12 that did not meet the graduation readiness requirement on the spring administration of the NJGPA-A must take the the assessment again during the fall administration. This will take place during the week of October 13. All students and families were notified and scores were mailed home.
  • NJSLA-A assessment scores from the Spring 2026 administration have recently been released. Score reports will be shared with families.

High School AP Testing Information

  • We are excited to once again offer a large number of AP courses and exams to our FTMHS students. AP Courses are college-level courses which have been approved by the College Board.
  • Although the AP exams seem far away, the cutoff date to sign your child up is quickly approaching.

  • As a result, we need to know your child's intention for taking the exam. Each exam costs $99.

    • October 30, 2026 - final date to reserve your child’s spot and submit an initial payment of $50
    • January 29, 2027 - The remaining $49 is due by to finalize registration.
    • You also have the option to pay the full $99 by October 30, 2026.
  • **New** Students must log into Total Registration (linked below) to register and pay for their exams.

  • If you have completed the Free and Reduced Lunch program application and were approved, the College Board and our District will work together to cover the cost of the exams. You should complete the registration process using the same link below and indicate this when asked on the registration form.

  • FTMHS currently offers (14) fourteen AP courses for students in grades 9 – 12. These courses provide our students with challenging learning experiences and they also afford our students the opportunity to earn college credits by virtue of their success on AP exams. This also allows our students and parents to save money on college!

  • Please review the testing schedule linked below. No late testing will be approved unless the student has a conflict with another exam. No late testing for family vacations will be approved. These dates are set in advance and by College Board. They can not be changed or altered.

Try This at Home:

Ask your child to teach you one thing they learned this week. It could be a new word, a math strategy, or an interesting fact. Let them explain it in their own way, then ask, “How did you figure that out?”

Start the Year with a Learning Conversation

October is a great time to check in with your child about how the school year is going. Ask what they’re enjoying, what feels challenging, and what they’re proud of so far. These conversations help children reflect on their learning and let you know where they may need encouragement.

What is Title I?

This Month's Term: Title I

Title I is a federal program that gives schools additional funding to help students succeed. In our district, Title I helps provide extra support in reading, math, and social-emotional support for students who need it. Teachers use information about each student’s learning to identify who may benefit from this support. Families are important partners, and we’ll share your child’s progress and ways you can help at home. For more information see the links below.
