Dr. Koop'sNewsletter February 24, 2023

Dear KRS Families,

For a short week, it was quite eventful! On Tuesday, the KRS staff along with their colleagues district-wide engaged in professional development activities. In addition, Madison Rotary Club members returned to KRS to read to the second grade students.

Ms. Thomas planned a variety of activities for Read Across America Week ( February 27 - March 3). The week begins with Monday, February 27th as a day when students and staff may wear their pajamas and bring a favorite stuffed animal to school. We are also really excited to welcome author Troy Cummings to Kings Road School on Tuesday. Additional details about Read Across America Week are included in this newsletter.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Sincerely,

Dr. Kathy Koop

Thank you Madison Education Foundation!

We are excited to announce that the Madison Education Foundation awarded a Sensory and Fine Motor Learning Grant that will support Kindergarten students at KRS and TJS. The grant, written by Occupational Therapist Theresa Feron and Kindergarten Teacher Rachel Lemon at TJS, will supply curriculum-centered fine/sensory motor activities to help bridge any fine-motor gaps while reinforcing academic skills. KRS and TJS Kindergarten teachers along with Theresa Feron carefully chose materials to integrate extra fine-motor practice, which can provide multisensory input into the daily curriculum.
