Cuyahoga Count Board of Health Dental Program 5 & 6th Grade
We are pleased to share that the district is partnering with the Cuyahoga County Board of Health to provide free dental services to our students in grades 5-6 in school. " Help protect your child's smile!" The free Dental Sealant Program will be at Greenbriar Wednesday, February 6th thru Tuesday, February 10th to apply sealants to 5th-6th graders' back molars - at no cost to families! Sealants help prevent cavities and keep your child's teeth healthy and strong. A consent form was sent home with your student in December. Please return the form to your student's Homeroom Teacher ASAP
In addition, our High School Dental Career Technical Education (CTE) students will be given the opportunity to observe the dental professionals during this program as part of their training. This shadowing experience will allow our high school students to gain real-world exposure in a supervised setting. If you prefer that your child NOT be observed during the procedure, click on the link below to fill out the Parent Acknowledgement Form, print and return to your student's Homeroom Teacher by Monday, January 26th.
Parent Acknowledgement Parents who have already sent in their consent forms must sign and complete this form.
Ohio Dental Program Grades 7 & 8
Parma City School District is excited to announce a new partnership with Ohio Dental Outreach to bring free and low-cost preventive dental services directly to our school for students in grades 7–12. With parent consent, students can receive exams, cleanings, fluoride treatments, sealants, and x-rays — and, for those who qualify, even restorative services such as fillings and simple extractions.
Licensed dental professionals will provide services on-site at Greenbriar on Friday, February 27th.
You can sign up in one of two ways:
A paper permission form was sent home in December. Please complete the form and return to the Homeroom Teacher by Monday, January 26th.
OR Sign up online at www.myschooldentist.com → Enter your school’s zip code to find your school and complete the form.
This is a convenient way to keep your child’s smile healthy — without having to miss school!

Emy Morris Embodies Stealth Ambition
What is stealth, what is ambition, and what does it mean if you put those two ideas together? Well, Emy Morris must understand this because she lives it! Ambition is the strong desire to achieve something through focus and hard work. Stealth is to move or act quietly to avoid being noticed. So can you imagine what it means to know Emy Morris? Can you imagine how lucky peers are to have such a patient, driven, creative Emy Morris on their STEM team? Can you imagine how lucky one is to call Emy Morris their friend? STEM 5 is certainly lucky to have her, so we celebrate this quiet, intellectual "giant" as the December Student of the Month!
Emy pictured here with her teachers and parents, Coach Cossell, Coach Good, Mom & Dad, and Coach Kucera.
STEM 5 Shares Their Ecosystems Knowledge with the Public
How is the survival of every organism tied to the health and balance of its ecosystem? Families and community members attended the STEM 5 capstone to find out! Teams researched and designed interactive food web exhibits about ecosystems from all over the world as part of the Greenbriar Natural History Museum. The audience played quiz games, studied our self-sustaining ecosystems as well as our vermicomposting project. The learning that took place that day is immeasurable!
STEM 5 Feeding Worms for Years!
STEM 5 has been feeding worms since November of 2023 in an attempt to divert Greenbriar's cafeteria food waste from landfills to help our environment. We've measured the weight and volume of food and added shredded trees to keep a healthy balance in the classroom worm bins.
Can you believe we've fed over 72 gallons of food to the worms? That could fill a small hot tub! And can you believe that food weighs over 325 pounds?! That is as heavy as an adult black bear or baby elephant! It's amazing how such tiny creatures such as worms can keep our ecosystem in balance!

In English, we are starting our novel Night. It is a memoir written by a Holocaust survivor and one of the most engaging books. It is educational and very well-written. We have incredible discussions and students appreciate the writing style and historical significance.
In math, students are learning about transformations and reflections. Classes are looking at mirrors and chess pieces and how they demonstrate math terms and ideas..
The Constitution is being studied in social studies.
Continental drift, volcanoes, and sea spreading are the topics being covered in science.
