DSS January 2026 Newsletter

Principal's Message/Mensaje de la Directora

Dear DSS Community,

We hope our DSS families had a wonderful Winter Break! January 2026 brings multiple opportunities for our Hawks to continue their academic & social-emotional growth. Our Hawks have embarked on their second semester, which will continue to provide the necessary rigor to see them academically thrive! The Hawk Academy/21st Century After School Program resumes this upcoming Monday, January 26th. We highly encourage our DSS families to attend and engage in our community events such as Parent-Teacher Organization meetings led by our Parent League.

This month, we will be celebrating our 100th Day of School on Thursday, January 22nd! We will have a 100th Day Activity Contest! We will share more details closer to that date!

Equally important, we invite you to join us during our January PTO Meeting on Thursday, January 29th at 5:30 pm. During our PTO, our teachers, parents, & community celebrate the achievement of our students.

We want to ask for your support as these Winter months get colder; please make sure your child(ren) wears a jacket to school. Equally important, winter month mornings are darker than usual; please ensure your child arrives at DSS no sooner than 7:30 am. Thank you for supporting student safety!

With respect & gratitude,

Mrs. Arredondo
