Daylight Savings Time
There were 80 students who participated in Math Challenge #10! The classes with the highest participants were: Ms. Wendling, Ms. Atwater, and Ms. Curtin. Amazing job!
Math challenge #11 began on 3/4 & is due Wednesday, March 16th.
BUDDY CLASSES
Mrs. Fedele and Mrs. Blaydon's classes got together with their buddies to kick off March Madness. They worked together using a pencil, a toothpick, a cup, a spoon, a rubber band, and tape to make a catapult that would launch the ping pong ball into the "net". There was a lot of trial and error, but we had students who successfully figured out a way to score a basket!

Miss Trotta
Hello! I am Miss Trotta, a Kindergarten teacher here at Tawanka. I have taught Kindergarten for 16 years now! Believe it or not, I knew I would be a Kindergarten teacher when I was in Kindergarten! It is my favorite grade. Besides kindergarten, I love my family, my daughter, my 2 dogs, and Disney!

Kindness Challenge
Throughout the month of February, Mrs. Tryon’s class participated in a Kindness Challenge. The class read the book, Kindness is Cooler, Mrs. Ruler and then were put to the challenge to complete as many random acts of kindness they could at home and school. Each student made a “Heart Chart” to fill, and as their teachers and parents caught them doing something kind, they were given a heart to add to their chart. The grand total for the class totaled up to 126 acts of kindness! Great job third graders!
Science
During the first 2 weeks of March, third graders had a chance to learn what it was like to be a geologist. Each student was given a “mock rock” to measure, weigh, break apart, and even dissolve to find out exactly what their rock was made of. Students learned to use measuring tools such as measuring tapes or rulers, and balance scales. They learned how to take observation notes, and to use the scientific method to figure out each ingredient in their rock. Rocks rock!
