Fall is definitely in the air! if you've driven by the parish office, you might have noticed our beautiful sunflowers and pumpkin patch. We'll soon be putting together pumpkin pie kits for our food bank families. We're also looking forward to our annual fall service day in October when we'll put our garden to rest for the winter (along with other projects at the parish). This month also saw the celebration of World Day of Migrants and Refugees. Keep reading for more information on the Holy Father's message to commemorate this day.

Saint Pio of Pietrelcina, popularly known as Padre Pio, grew up in southern Italy. At the age of 15, he joined the Capuchins and was ordained in 1910. In 1918 he received the stigmata, the markings of the crucified Jesus, which he then bore for the next 50 years.

World Day of Migrants and Refugees

The Church has been celebrating the World Day of Migrants and Refugees (WDMR) since 1914. It is always an occasion to express concern for different vulnerable people on the move; to pray for them as they face many challenges; and to increase awareness about the opportunities that migration offers.

Catholic Relief Services Chapter

Faith in Action! Members of our Catholic Relief Services chapters from Washington state met with Senator Murray's office to advocate for US leadership in combatting climate change. We also discussed how adaptation programs can help our vulnerable neighbors around the world. Thanks to Washington State Catholic Conference and the CRS staff members who also participated.

On Oct. 4—the feast of Saint Francis of Assisi—we will lift our voices together by emailing Congress to address the climate crisis and its impact on our global family. Sign up to join this powerful day of advocacy.
