Demopolis Middle School Roar Report
October 2024
From Mrs. Jones
DMS Family and Friends,
I can't believe it is already October. We are reaching the end of the first quarter and, hopefully, the end of hot temperatures. October will be a busy month, and we have some special events scheduled.
As the first quarter closes, students will take 9 weeks exams in their core courses. These exams cover material that has been taught within the first nine weeks. There is no change in schedule; the exams are the same length as a regular classroom test, and students will complete them during their normal class period. Here is the exam schedule:
Tuesday, Oct. 8- English Language Arts & Science
Wednesday, Oct. 9- Math & Social Studies
Thursday, Oct. 10- Make-Up Exams
*Don't forget that Friday, Oct. 11, is a professional development day for teachers, and Fall Break is Oct. 14 & 15.
September is Suicide Prevention Month; however, we have a special program coming to DMS and DHS in October, so we will continue to focus on suicide prevention this month. The middle school and high school have the opportunity to take part in the Love Like Lexi Project. There will be a parent assembly on Oct. 16 at the DHS Gym at 6:00. This assembly is for parents only, and then there will be a student assembly at DMS on Oct. 17. *You will receive a letter before the assembly and will have the choice to opt out if you do not want your child to attend. I am including two links so that you can learn more about the program:
We will have our "tardy party" in a few weeks to celebrate those students who had no tardies to school for the first nine weeks.
The DMS basketball season is quickly approaching. I have included the schedule below.
Have a great October, and as always, thank you for your continued support.
