Markham Colocation Update
Dear Markham families,
We know that you have been anxious to know more about the timeline for reopening the Markham school building.
As we shared last week, our operations team has been reviewing the work plan proposed by our construction contractor. We have gone back and forth on the sequence and scope, and write today with bad news.
Due to the extent of the damage and sheer magnitude of mitigation and repairs, the building will remain closed for the rest of the school year.
We understand that this is incredibly disappointing news, and we are engaging Dr. Brown-Warrens and her team in conversations about how we can best support our students through June.
One of those conversations will take place on Thursday (2/15) from 6-7 p.m. when district leadership and Dr. Brown-Warrens will be hosting a virtual meeting for families and staff. This informational meeting is an opportunity for you to learn more about the progress of reconstruction at Markham and the options the district is considering for teaching and learning going forward. You can log-in to the meeting here.
As always, we thank you for your patience and cooperation as we navigate this extremely challenging situation.
Sincerely,
Dr. Jon Franco, Chief of Schools
Dan Jung, Chief Operating Officer
