English II STAAR Stand-Alone Field Test 2/3
College Park High School has been selected by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) to participate in the STAAR Stand-Alone Field Test in February 2026. Participation is mandatory for selected campuses under Texas Education Code Section 39.035.
English II Testing Requirement
All students enrolled in English II will be required to participate in the English II STAAR Field Test on Tuesday, February 3 at College Park High School.
What is the STAAR Stand-Alone Field Test?
The Texas Education Agency uses field tests to develop and improve future STAAR assessments. This stand-alone field test focuses on Reading Language Arts (RLA) and is designed to ensure a sufficient number of high-quality extended constructed-response questions are available for future state exams.
To reduce student testing fatigue, these questions are field-tested separately, rather than embedded within the operational STAAR assessments.
Who is required to participate?
-
All eligible students at selected campuses who are scheduled to take the corresponding spring 2026 STAAR assessments must participate.
Testing format and results
-
The field test will be administered online only.
-
This assessment does not impact student grades, promotion, or accountability ratings.
-
Neither College Park High School nor parents will receive individual student results, as the assessment is used solely for test development purposes.
Our campus plan
Our administrative team has carefully developed a testing plan that is minimally disruptive to the school day. Our goal is to avoid a full campus shutdown and allow the majority of students to continue with a normal instructional schedule while testing occurs in designated areas.
College Park Track & Field Excellence
On January 17, our College Park Track & Field coaching staff attended the Lone Star Athletics Coaches Association Clinic at Montgomery High School, engaging in professional learning and collaboration with coaches from across the state.
We are especially proud to celebrate Head Coach Mike Gibson, who was inducted into the Lone Star Athletics Coaches Association Hall of Honor. Coach Gibson’s recognition reflects an outstanding 31-year coaching career, including more than 20 years of dedicated service to College Park High School.
Congratulations to Coach Gibson on this well-deserved honor and thank you to our Track & Field staff for their continued commitment to excellence!

Ready for What’s Next: College, Career, and Military Readiness
At College Park, we believe every student should graduate with a plan and a purpose. College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) means being prepared for life after high school—no matter what path you choose.
For some students, that means earning college credit or a career certification while still in high school. For others, it’s preparing to serve our country or gaining real-world skills for a job right after graduation.
For parents, CCMR is about knowing your student is confident, capable, and ready to take the next step toward their future.
Because at College Park, we don’t just graduate students—we graduate future leaders.

College Park Grad Night
Cavalier Compass is a weekly video from our school counseling team, shared with all students during their Wednesday advisory. Its purpose is to provide resources, encouragement, and real-life skills that support students both in and out of the classroom. Topics range from study habits and course planning to mental health awareness, healthy lifestyles, and digital citizenship. Our goal is to connect with students in a fun, positive way while giving them tools to grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
If you have any questions about Cavalier Compass, please reach out to our lead counselor, Kasey Lucas (kllucas@conroeisd.net).
Current Attendance Rate 95.4%
Our 24-25 attendance rate was: 94.9%. Our goal for 25-26 is 98%!
CPHS wants All Cavaliers to Achieve. A large part of student success is related to student attendance. We want to teach our Cavs all we can in the days that we have with them. Please encourage your student to attend every period to gain the knowledge they need to be successful. In the event your child does miss school, please be sure to email our attendance office or see the new Student Absence Reporting App information below. Also, please remind your child to get with their teacher about any work they missed. We would also like to remind you that your child will be at risk of losing credit and parents/guardians may have to go to court due to attendance.
We encourage all parents to sign up for the SMART tag™ Parent App, which provides real-time updates on your child’s school bus. You’ll receive alerts when the bus is arriving, along with notifications about any delays or route changes.
Please note that we will no longer be using Bus Hubs to communicate bus delays—so be sure to download and activate the SMART tag™ Parent App to stay informed and connected.
Stay Connected with the SMART tag™ Parent App
We encourage all parents to sign up for the SMART tag™ Parent App, as we will no longer be using Bus Hubs to notify families of bus delays. The app provides real-time updates on your child’s school bus, including arrival alerts, notifications for delays, and route changes.
It’s a reliable and convenient way to stay informed about your child’s transportation. To get started, simply download the app, register, and link your child’s student ID.
