The Weekly Highlander
Volume #10
A Message from the Principal
Thursday is Halloween! We are very excited for students to dress up and share their holiday spirit at school. We ask that students do not bring play weapons to school and student faces must be visible, no masks or face paint. We know there will be lots of candy and sugar; if you can keep as much of it as possible at home, that would help us out.
Friday is Dia De Los Muertos, and we will be having a lunchtime celebration. Students will be able to purchase pan dulce, hot chocolate, and face painting using their PBIS points. The PBIS store will open on Monday, October 28th, and will close on Wednesday, October 30th, or until inventory runs out. Students will be unable to purchase items at the event, everything is sold PRESALE ONLY.
On Friday, the parents of all Core 7 students are invited to campus for a Publishing Party. Students have completed their narrative writing and parents are welcome to come to class to read their work and to read the work of other students. The time for each class is on the flyer in this newsletter, parents will be signed in and then sent to the classroom. Please know your child's core teacher so we can get you to the correct location at the correct time.

What is Measure J?
As election season draws near, you may see signs for "Measure J" in and around Tustin Unified. In case you ae wondering, Measure J is a school bond measure on the November 5, 2024 ballot for Tustin Unified School District (TUSD). It seeks voter approval to issue up to $261 million in bonds. The funds would be used to repair and upgrade aging school facilities, modernize classrooms and labs, improve safety and security systems, and update infrastructure like HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems. The measure also includes provisions for citizen oversight and audits to ensure that all funds are locally controlled and used effectively. For more information, please navigate to our district website HERE.
