Information for Families
Dear Timberwolf Families,
As we near the end of Term 1, we wanted to share with you the Truedell Student Achievement Plan for the 2024-25 school year. There are three main categories that our goals fall under; Literacy, Mathematics and Well Being. We continue to work very hard at the school to close gaps for students in Literacy and Numeracy using research based assessments and instructional strategies that focus on the acquisition of foundational skills that are critical for success. Our Well Being goals are in the areas of attendance, belonging and awareness of mental health supports. We are working to communicate regularly with families about the importance of attendance and meeting the goal of 90% attendance over the school year. Attendance letters will go home with all students that are below 90% attendance at the end of Term 1. This communication is meant to inform families of the current number of days their child has missed, as well as a reach out to families that may be struggling with regular attendance. Please reach out to us at any time if there are supports needed to ensure that your children attend regularly. The School and School Council are working together to start some Family Evenings that will cover important topics that families often ask about. There will be a focus on mental health supports as part of the series of information and discussion nights. More information about this will be coming home in the near future.
We have added some new games for our Winter Clubs that run until March Break. We have purchased three more boxes of giant Uno cards, a giant Jenga game and a giant Connect 4 game to the Makerspace. Giant Uno is very popular so we needed more sets of cards and the other games are brand new to us at Truedell. The funds to purchase these games came from our Hot Lunch Program. Thank you to everyone who contributed by purchasing hot lunches for their children.
As always, please reach out to us if you have questions or need support.
Take care,
K. Esford, Principal

Truedell Book Exchange Information
The Truedell School Community is busy planning events for our Literacy Week (January 27th to January 31st). We are bringing the Book Exchange back for the second year. Students will have the opportunity to bring in a used book from home and exchange it for another book. The school will ensure that every child has an opportunity to choose a book to take home. This activity is an excellent opportunity to receive a book and also reinforce the importance of reusing items as environmental stewards.
Steps for the Book Exchange:
1. Have your child bring in a book for the book exchange on January 28th, 2025 and hand it in to their teacher.
2. Book collection will be from Tuesday, January 14th to Friday, January 24th. Please make sure the book is in good condition and appropriate for a child that is 14 or under.
3. On Tuesday, January 28th, all Truedell students will have the opportunity to choose a book to take home from the Book Exchange.
