IMPORTANT: Morning Drop off Safety

The safety of our students is always our top priority. To keep all of our children safe, please do not drop off or leave your child in front of the school before staff members are outside on duty and the doors open. If you need to drop your child off earlier, please check them into the BASE program.

As a reminder, doors open at 8:20 AM Mondays-Thursdays and 9:05 AM on Fridays.

Thank you so much for your partnership and cooperation in keeping our school community safe!

Birthday Celebrations

We love celebrating birthdays with our students! You are always welcome to bring lunch and join your child for a special birthday meal in Town Square. If your child would like to invite a friend to join you, they are welcome to bring one classmate!

  • If you know the friend’s parents: Feel free to coordinate with them if you'd like to bring lunch for their child, too.

  • If you don't know the friend’s parents: To make sure we respect all family dietary preferences and food allergies, please have the guest child bring their own packed lunch or get a school lunch to bring to the table.

  • Show your children how to model their Pack Pride by using the wipes in Town Square to clean the tables/seats when finished so the next guests can enjoy a clean place to sit.

  • Please do not bring items that would go back to the classroom as a distraction for the afternoon. Thank you!

We look forward to celebrating your child's special day with you!

Pack Pride Parents

Welcome Pack Pride Parent Dads and Moms (Grandparents, Aunts/Uncles and Guardians) of Marvelous students!

We are looking for parent volunteers to help with lunch and recess! Pack Pride Parents is BACK! As a Pack Pride Parent, we're not asking you to be the teacher (the school has that covered-- Wheeww)! The goal of Pack Pride Parents is to be a positive role model and presence for our students. From sharing a warm smile or a heartfelt high-five to helping open those pesky pouches and tricky string cheese wrappers, a genuinely positive interaction can brighten a kiddo's day!

Please view these slides to see if this volunteering opportunity is right for you!

After viewing the slides and completing the orientation link, you can sign up to begin volunteering here.

CogAT Information - Upcoming Testing on November 2nd

DCSD is committed to implementing equitable practices to increase access to advanced/gifted learning opportunities. Based on state and national recommendations and requirements, we implement Universal Screening for students in 2nd grade (February) and 5th grade (November).

5th Grade Universal Screen

As part of this process, ALL students in 5th grade not identified for gifted programming will take the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) the week of November 2nd. This assessment indicates the level and pattern of cognitive development of a student in comparison to grade and age mates. These general reasoning abilities, which start developing at birth and continue through early adulthood, are influenced by experiences gained both in and out of school.

If your child is already identified for gifted programming, they will not participate in this universal screen testing. Your Gifted Education Facilitator will contact you directly with information about this process.

Gifted Identification Referral Testing

  • If your child is in grades 3 and 4, and you believe they need evaluation for Gifted Identification and Services, you may refer your child for testing by initiating the Gifted Identification Process.

  • NOTE: Requesting this assessment automatically initiates the process to evaluate for Gifted Identification.

  • Please request CogAT testing for your child by completing the DCSD Gifted & Talented Referral Form.

  • Upon receipt of this form the Gifted Education Facilitator will connect with you to discuss next steps in the gifted identification process.
