Schedule Changes
Anyone wishing to change their second semester schedules will need to visit with Ms. Filipek. Schedule changes can be made throughout the first week back to school.
Friday, January 9th will be the last day to make schedule changes.
Culinary Arts
Students in the two Culinary Arts class have been busy creating graham cracker gingerbread houses and decorating them to celebrate the season. Students learned how to make royal icing and discovered how challenging it can be to achieve the right consistency. Students also had the opportunity to practice patience and learned to pay attention to small details in order to make their houses complete with doors and chimneys.
A variety of ingredients were used to create the masterpieces including --M&Ms, gum drops, candy canes, coconut, and chocolate kisses. Pictured are Keyes (above) and Jynavi (right) with their holiday creations.
Money Smart
Visitors from GrowSD visited Mrs. DeSpiegler's Personal Finance class on Wednesday. They spoke about financial wellness including topics such as monthly budgets, wants versus needs, financial goals and social media spending influences. Following their presentation, they led students through an activity to create a monthly budget where they found out they had spent more than they had made and needed to make some adjustments to their monthly spending habits. Great practical lessons for all!
Christmas Concert in the Books
The freshmen girls pictured above were pretty excited to have successfully completed their first HS Christmas Concert on Monday night.
Both band and choir students had spent weeks preparing, and their hard work paid off as they played to a full house of parents and community members, helping everyone get in the Christmas spirit.
Homework Help
Homework Help will resume on Thursday, January 8th. A reminder that Homework Help takes place in the HS Library and runs until 5pm each week.
