Celebrating Our Seniors
As graduation day approaches next week, we want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible TMHS Class of 2025! This past week has been filled with memorable events honoring our seniors, including the CTE Awards, Senior Awards, Senior Sunset, and the special occasion of our seniors attending classes in their caps and gowns. These moments highlight the achievements and spirit of our graduating students. We are immensely proud of their accomplishments and look forward to celebrating their success at the upcoming graduation ceremony.
Final Exam Exemptions Reminder
A reminder to all students planning to exempt final exams: attendance during the review period is mandatory to qualify for an exemption. If a student is absent during the review session, they forfeit the opportunity to exempt that particular final exam. This policy ensures that all students are adequately prepared and have the opportunity to review essential material before exams. Please ensure attendance during these critical review periods to maintain eligibility for exam exemptions.
Need a VOE for a Driver’s Permit or License?
If your student will need a Verification of Enrollment (VOE) form this summer to obtain a learner’s permit or driver’s license, please plan ahead. Our campus will be closed on Fridays starting in June and will not be able to issue VOE forms after June 16th. The registrar’s office will not be available to process requests again until staff return toward the end of July for the 2025–2026 school year. We encourage families to submit requests between May 22nd and June 16th using the LinkTree below. Don’t wait until it’s too late!
Let’s finish strong, Wildcats!

Advanced Summer Reading 2025
Tomball ISD
Dear Students,
We are so excited to have you in our Advanced English/Language Arts program! Tomball ISD endorses a summer reading program for all students enrolled in advanced English courses grades 6-12. This summer, we are offering a variety of novel choices for you to choose from. You will have until the first day of school to complete the novel of your choice to be prepared for the discussions and assessments that will take place during the school day.
We realize that changes do occur during the summer, and sometimes students find themselves switching schools due to a recent move. Should you find that you will be attending a different Tomball ISD school, please check that campus for their reading list.
Below you will find your campus and class and choose from their particular list of books for your summer reading novel. Please note that you MUST choose from the list for your particular campus.

The following ideas are suggested in order to help students engage in active reading:
In his essay “How to Mark a Book,” Mortimer Adler explains that reading is a “conversation between you and the author.” Adler writes: “Why is marking up a book indispensable to reading? First, it keeps you awake. (And I don’t mean merely conscious; I mean awake.) In the second place, reading, if it is active, is thinking, and thinking tends to express itself in words, spoken or written. The marked book is usually the thought-through book. Finally, writing helps you remember the thoughts you had, or the thoughts the author expressed.”
“There are all kinds of devices for marking a book intelligently and fruitfully. Here’s the way I do it:
Underlining (or highlighting): of major points, of important or forceful statements
Vertical lines at the margin: to emphasize a statement already underlined
Star, asterisk, or other doo-dad at the margin: to be used sparingly, to emphasize the ten or twenty most important statements in the book (You may want to fold the bottom corner of each page on which you use such marks. It won't hurt the sturdy paper on which most modern books are printed, and you will be able to take the book off the shelf at any time and, by opening it at the folded-corner page, refresh your recollection of the book.)
Numbers of other pages in the margin: to indicate where else in the book the author made points relevant to the point marked; to tie up the ideas in a book, which, though they may be separated by many pages, belong together
Circling or highlighting of key words or phrases
Writing in the margin, or at the top or bottom of the page, for the sake of: recording questions (and perhaps answers) which a passage raised in your mind; reducing a complicated discussion to a simple statement; recording the sequence of major points through the book
If marking your book is not a possibility, there are some other options:
You can use sticky notes. Place these on the pages/paragraphs where you would underline or highlight and write out your thoughts or ideas on the note.
Write out notes on paper and keep the paper inside the book. Include page numbers with comments/notations so that you will remember what prompted your thinking.
Should any questions arise, please contact us at your convenience.
Best,
Dr. Ashley L. Schlafly

TMHS Counselor Information
Pass/Fail Information
TISD students who are participating in a defined four-year program which does not have quality (weighted) point options at Levels III and IV (usually the 11th grade and 12th grade courses) such as TAP/AP/Dual Credit may opt to take the approved course as a Pass/Fail course. Course grading will follow the normal grading guidelines, and a numerical grade will be recorded and reported for progress reports and report cards. The semester grade will be calculated with the two marking period grades and the final exam (unless exempt). Provided that the semester average is at least 80, the numerical semester average will be converted to a grade of Pass for the transcript. The grade will not be included in GPA calculations. The student must be in 11th or 12th grade and requesting a course which forms either Level III or IV of a four year program for which the student has completed levels I and II.
Pass/Fail courses are best suited for students with an overall GPA at or above 100. If a student’s overall GPA is below 100, choosing to take a course as Pass/Fail may not be advantageous. Students can speak with their counselor for further information if needed.
- Only rising juniors (class of 2027) and seniors (class of 2026) need to complete the application at this time.
- Students may only take two Pass/Fail courses in any one school year.
- Students must successfully complete the application process advertised by the campus each year and meet any required deadlines.
- Students must commit to the program prior to August 1, 2025.
- Students may not change their decision after August 1, 2025.
- Students must earn a semester average of at least 80 to qualify for the conversion to a Pass for the transcript record. Semester averages of less than 80 will be posted according to regular guidelines and will be included in GPA rankings.
See the Tomball ISD 2025-2026 Course Catalog for eligible courses.
Course Selection
The deadline to make changes to students’ elective courses for the 2025-2026 school year was February 9th. You can view the courses your student chose for next year by logging into HAC. Their courses for next year are listed underneath their current school schedule.
While it is too late to make elective schedule changes for your courses for next school year, you can make level changes at this time (ie. moving from AP/DC/TAP to on level) by completing the Level Change Request Form . Please be aware that students must have attended a Dual Credit meeting if they are planning on taking DC classes next school year. Once school starts students can request to drop an advanced course at the end of the third week, sixth week, and/or semester.
