Queen of Apostles School
Term 1 Week 8 - Thursday 26 March 2026
O’ God You create all people in your image.
We thank you for the variety of races and cultures in this world.
Enrich our lives by ever widening circles of friendship and show us your presence in those who differ most from us, until our knowledge of your love is made perfect in our love for all your children.
Amen.
As we move through Week 8, we begin to turn our attention to an important and sacred time in the Church’s calendar - Holy Week. This is a time for reflection, prayer and renewal, as we journey through the events leading to Easter. At school, students will be engaging in age-appropriate learning and experiences to deepen their understanding of the significance of Holy Week, including the themes of sacrifice, compassion, hope and new life. I encourage all families to take time together to reflect on this season and its meaning within our faith.
Last week, I had the pleasure of attending the Year 6 Camp with our students. Camps such as these provide invaluable opportunities for students to step outside of their comfort zones, build independence and strengthen relationships with their peers and teachers. It was wonderful to see our students demonstrate resilience, teamwork and a willingness to embrace new challenges. These experiences play an important role in supporting both their personal growth and their transition towards secondary school. And yes, on a few occasions, the staff may have reminded the students that experience still counts for something!
We are also preparing for our upcoming Parent-Teacher Interviews. These meetings are a valuable opportunity to strengthen the partnership between home and school, which is so important for each child’s learning and wellbeing. They provide a chance to celebrate progress, discuss areas for growth and ensure we are working together to support every student in achieving their best.
I strongly encourage all families to take the time to attend these interviews. Your involvement sends a powerful message to your child about the importance of their education and helps us to continue building a supportive and connected school community.
Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support of our school.

Iriza makes Jesus real in our classroom through the gentle, thoughtful, and caring way she treats others. She shows kindness in her words, her willingness to share, and the way she includes everyone in her play and learning.
Her warm nature shines through in the way she listens to her friends and notices when someone needs help. She offers support and shows respect by taking turns, working cooperatively, and contributing positively to our class.
Iriza also brings a bright and positive attitude to school each day. She approaches her learning with enthusiasm and curiosity, embraces new challenges, and takes pride in doing her best. Her calm and joyful presence helps create a warm and welcoming classroom for everyone.
Iriza is a wonderful role model. She shows us what it means to be a kind friend, a caring classmate, and someone who makes Jesus real through her actions.
Well done, Iriza!
Year 1
Uel is receiving the Year 1 MJR Award for the positive attitude he displays through his words and actions at school.
He always tries his best, even when things are hard, and he encourages others to do the same.
Uel speaks kindly when sharing his knowledge with friends, or when they are sad, just like Jesus did, and he goes out of his way to lend a helping hand without having to be asked.
Uel is thoughtful, and giving, always showing compassion and respect to those around him, and he truly reflects the Making Jesus Real spirit, here at Queenies.
Congratulations on being an MJR STAR, Uel!
Year 2
Marcus is a kind and thoughtful member of our class who consistently shows respect and care towards others. He treats his classmates and teachers with kindness and is always willing to help when someone needs support. Marcus’ friendly smile and positive attitude help make our classroom a welcoming place for everyone. His gentle nature and the way he includes others make him a wonderful role model for his peers. Marcus, you truly bring the spirit of Making Jesus Real
to life in our Year Two classroom each day.
Congratulations!
Year 3
Binuthi consistently demonstrating kindness, empathy, and a genuine commitment to others
She supports her classmates with their learning, helping them stay organised, or simply taking the time to listen, she is always there when a friend is in need.
Her thoughtful actions and caring nature make a positive difference in our classroom each day, demonstrating a wonderful example of what it means to be a supportive and respectful friend.
A truly deserving recipient for the MJR award.
Year 4
Violet shows the spirit of Jesus through compassion, respect and standing up for what is right, when she sees the need by doing something about it.
She shows genuine care and empathy for others and always includes others in play.
Violet always strives to do her best in whatever she sets her mind to.
She is most deserving of being our MJR Star!
Year 5
Amelie is an MJR star who lives out her daily life as Jesus did and consistently displays the school values.
Amelie is always respectful, polite, and considerate of others.
She demonstrates great patience and is always willing to assist those in need.
Amelie displays wonderful MJR qualities in the day-to-day interactions with her teachers and peers. She is always enthusiastic in the way she includes others and greets everyone.
Amelie is a terrific role model and worthy MJR recipient!
Year 6
Adyan lives out Jesus’ greatest teaching: to love others with all your heart, soul, strength, and mind.
He uses the special gifts and character strengths God has given him—teamwork, fairness, and love—to build a caring and supportive classroom community.
Adyan’s kindness shines most clearly in the quiet ways he helps others.
Recently, when a friend hurt themselves, he gently stepped in to support them without being asked
He made sure they were comfortable, helped them pack their bag, and cleared their desk so they didn’t have to strain or worry. His actions came from genuine love and concern, not from a desire for recognition.
He treats everyone with fairness and respect, greeting others warmly each morning and giving his best effort in all he does. His teamwork is evident in the way he includes others and works cooperatively.
Through these actions, he reflects Jesus’ love in simple, powerful ways.
Thank you, Queenies families and our local community, for the wonderful response to our food donation drive in support of The Shopfront.
Our Social Justice Committee is thrilled with the generosity shown. Together, we are making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
The Shopfront WA is an Agency of the Catholic Archdiocese of Perth. Based in Bentley, it plays a vital role in relieving poverty and hardship, offering practical assistance alongside genuine fellowship and hospitality.
P&F Business Directory
Our P&F have also launched a new initiative to develop a Queen of Apostles Business Directory. This will provide an opportunity for families who own or operate businesses to promote their services within our school community and support one another locally. Families are invited to complete the online form if they would like their business included.
Please note: Listings in our Community Business Directory are provided for information only and do not constitute endorsement by the school. Families are encouraged to make their own enquiries when engaging any business.
Our Year 4 students have been busy baking and selling delicious cupcakes to support their Caritas Fundraiser. A wonderful example of faith in action and helping those in need.

Our school has kindly been gifted a new parent resource called Macy’s First Phone written by Perth mother and author, Anita McSweeney. This simple story book guide promotes self-regulation and healthy routines when navigating the use of a mobile phone.
By setting aside just a few minutes each night to complete a one-page plan that is included in the book, this simple daily act of planning can manage a phone and any device in our world today.
If you would like to borrow this book, or any of our other parent books, please see Mrs O’Brien in the library.

Volunteers
The Government of WA have amended the Working with Children Act last year with the changes implemented to better protect children. Catholic Education WA has mandated this process for all volunteers, including parent volunteers in schools. This includes parents who wish to volunteer at sports carnivals, in classrooms and at P&F events. Could we ask that all parents fill in the Volunteer Declaration (link) even if you have no plans at this stage to volunteer at school. Parents who wish to assist teachers on excursions will need to be on this list. Your information will be stored securely in accordance with CEWA’s Information Stewardship. We highly value parent volunteers' time and contribution to our school community and thank-you for taking the time to submit the form below.
Any grandparents that wish to volunteer in the classroom or assist in the canteen will need a Working With Children Check. Please note this does not include drop off, pick up or attendance at our Grandparents Mass and Morning Tea. Grandparents that would like to volunteer at school, please contact the school office and we can assist you in the process.
