Upcoming Events
Students will participate in MAP testing three times this school year. The first round will take place Tuesday, September 2 – Monday, September 9. Testing will be conducted in students’ ELA, Math, and Science classrooms following a block schedule.
MAP Testing, or Measures of Academic Progress, is a computer-adaptive test that helps us understand exactly where each student is in their learning journey. Unlike traditional tests, MAP adjusts in real time to the student’s answers—so it provides a personalized assessment experience. It gives teachers valuable insights to tailor instruction, set goals, and track growth over time. It’s not about a grade—it’s about growth and helping every student reach their full potential.
Open House – September 10, 2025 | 6–8 PM
Come meet your teachers, explore classrooms, and enjoy our Book Fair in the library! We’ll follow the bell schedule below so you can walk through your student’s day.
Supporting Our War Eagles – Homecoming Week!
Irons Junior High is proud to support Oak Ridge High School’s Homecoming Week, September 15–19!
Our feeder high school will be celebrating with spirit dress-up days, the annual parade, a community Fall Festival, and the big Homecoming football game under the Friday night lights.
Let’s show our War Eagle pride and cheer them on all week long!
Electronic Device Policy
Beginning August 13, students may not use personal communication and electronic devices during the school day in accordance with Texas House Bill 1481.
- This includes (but is not limited to) phones, smartwatches, tablets, and wired/wireless headphones such as AirPods.
Building Connections at Lunch
This year, we’ve introduced a new lunch routine where students sit with their 4th period class. This structure is helping students build stronger bonds with classmates they see every day. It gives Hawks a chance to:
-
Enjoy lunch in a safe, welcoming space
-
Strengthen friendships and connections within their class family
-
Practice teamwork, conversation, and social skills face-to-face
-
Have fun playing games, talking, and laughing together—without the distraction of phones
We’ve already seen students enjoying deeper connections and a more positive cafeteria atmosphere. It’s all about helping our Hawks feel included, supported, and part of a community.
10 Commandments
Below is the official communication from Central Office regarding this requirement:
Parental Consent for School Health-Related Services
The 89th Texas Legislature recently passed Senate Bill 12 which requires school districts to obtain written permission from a parent/guardian before providing health-related services to that individual’s child. Only life-saving care can be given at school without the written consent provided in this document by the child’s parent/guardian.
School health-related services are most often provided by the school nurse. However, additional school staff may also provide first-aid and care of ill or injured students. This would include teachers, athletic trainers, administrators, counselors, clinic assistants or other staff charged with supervising children.
