Achievement Reports are Coming January 19 on Powerschool
Your child's first semester Achievement Report shows progress in the first half of the school year. As you review the first semester Achievement Report, keep the following in mind:
The Achievement Report is aligned to the California Common Core State Standards. The Achievement Report is designed to clearly communicate to parents what their child’s actual individual achievement is. The goal is to let parents understand what students know and are able to do on a set of rigorous, academic standards, at a particular point in the school year.
So how should you read your child’s Achievement Report? The report lists the essential grade level standards that your child is required to master by the end of the school year. It is a goal oriented system. At the first semester reporting period, it is very appropriate to see 2’s – “Progressing toward the standard.”
For more details on how to read your child's Achievement Report, please contact your child's teacher. Parent Teacher conference time is the perfect time to get ask questions, receive clarification, or discuss how you can help at home. Parent Teacher Conferences will be January 22-31 and dismissal will take place at 2:13pm during these days.
PBIS Character Trait for January
Here at school, we are busy learning about Kindness and the importance of showing friendliness, cooperation, and helpfullness in our community! Learning happens best when it is done both at school and at home. This month classroom teachers are placing special emphasis on modeling, explaining, and guiding students to understand how to demonstrate kindness. Each teacher will be selecting 1 student to be recognized for showing examplary kindness to be recongized at our Monday Assembly at the end of the month.
Health Guidelines for Illness
Sometimes it can be confusing to know when to send your student(s) to school and when to keep them home if they’re sick. For a quick reminder, you can look at our County Health Guidelines to help you make a decision. We know that unforeseen circumstances may occur, so if your student has to be out, consider making it only a partial day, or if they are out for three or more days, sign up for an Independent Study Contract to keep them up to date on their classwork.
