Queen of Apostles School
Term 3 Week 4 - Thursday 13 August 2026
Prayer
O Most Blessed Mother,
heart of love, heart of mercy, ever listening, caring, consoling, hear our prayer.
As your children, we implore your intercession with Jesus your Son.
We are comforted in knowing your heart is ever open to those who ask for your prayer.
We entrust to your gentle care and intercession, those whom we love and who are sick or lonely or hurting.
Help all of us, Holy Mother, to bear our burdens in this life until we may share eternal life and peace with God forever.
Amen.
At Queen of Apostles, we believe that learning is most powerful when it is authentic, purposeful and connected to the world around us. This term, we are excited to launch our partnership with the Corridors for Carnaby's project, an initiative that will transform our school grounds into a thriving landscape where students, nature and wildlife flourish together.
Our vision extends far beyond planting trees. We are creating a living classroom where every child has opportunities to learn through nature, develop a deep appreciation for God's creation and become active stewards of the environment. Through this project, students will investigate biodiversity, sustainability, native plants and wildlife, while building a legacy that will benefit our school community for generations.
We are incredibly fortunate to be partnering with two of Western Australia's leading environmental experts, Dr Kingsley Dixon and Sabrina Hahn, whose knowledge and passion will help guide our vision. Their expertise will support us in creating a meaningful habitat for Carnaby's Black Cockatoos while enriching learning opportunities across Religious Education, Science, HASS, English, The Arts and beyond.
This exciting journey builds on the wonderful work already taking place at Queen of Apostles, including our Community Garden, Nature Play Space, dedicated project team and our growing partnership with the City of Canning. It has also been wonderful to see the enthusiasm from our families, with more than 30 parents and students attending our recent Community Garden Busy Bee.
A sincere thank you to everyone who supported our recent raffle. Together, our community raised $675, which will be invested directly into purchasing mature trees and establishing additional green spaces throughout the school. Every contribution brings us one step closer to creating cooler, greener learning environments and valuable habitat for native wildlife.
Together, we are not simply landscaping a school. We are nurturing curiosity, inspiring environmental leadership and living out our call to care for God's creation. I look forward to sharing this exciting journey with you as our vision continues to grow.

Parent and Carer Code of Conduct
At Queen of Apostles, we value the strong partnership between home and school. When families and staff work together with mutual respect, open communication and a shared commitment to every child's wellbeing, our students are best placed to flourish.
Catholic Education Western Australia has recently introduced a new Parent and Carer Code of Conduct, which outlines the shared expectations for respectful engagement across our school community. The Code encourages positive communication, respectful relationships, support for school policies and constructive approaches to resolving concerns, all while keeping the safety and wellbeing of students at the centre of every interaction.
A copy of the Parent and Carer Code of Conduct is attached to this newsletter for your information. I encourage all families to take a few moments to read the document as we continue working together to foster a safe, welcoming and Christ-centred community where every child can thrive.
Students are welcome to come to school dressed as their favourite book character and bring along a photocopy or the book they are taking inspiration from; we may even have the book in the library.
Following the parade, the children will be attending presentations from Perth based author/illustrator Frane Lessac.

Eligible parents and caregivers can claim:
- $150 for each child enrolled in Kindergarten to Year 6.
Most families will submit their claim through the ServiceWA app, with paper application forms also available through the Department of Education.
To complete your application, you will need your child's West Australian Student Number (WASN). Most families should already have access to this number. If you are unable to locate your child's WASN, please contact the school office and we will be happy to assist.
We encourage all eligible families to submit their application before the closing date of Friday 25 September 2026.
Volunteers
The Government of WA have amended the Working with Children Act last year with the changes implemented to better protect children. Catholic Education WA has mandated this process for all volunteers, including parent volunteers in schools. This includes parents who wish to volunteer at sports carnivals, in classrooms and at P&F events. Could we ask that all parents fill in the Volunteer Declaration (link) even if you have no plans at this stage to volunteer at school. Parents who wish to assist teachers on excursions will need to be on this list. Your information will be stored securely in accordance with CEWA’s Information Stewardship. We highly value parent volunteers' time and contribution to our school community and thank-you for taking the time to submit the form below.
Any grandparents that wish to volunteer in the classroom or assist in the canteen will need a Working With Children Check. Please note this does not include drop off, pick up or attendance at our Grandparents Mass and Morning Tea. Grandparents that would like to volunteer at school, please contact the school office and we can assist you in the process.
