Dear Families,
Dear Families,
I hope you’re all having a great weekend. We had a busy week at Wessagusset with special events like bus safety/evacuation practice with WPD School Resource Officer Flanagan, and the Boosterthon Fun Run Kickoff Assembly! Please see below for important school information:
This week we completed our fall data meetings, which are a crucial way for us to determine which types of instructional strategies and interventions we need to provide in order to strengthen our students’ reading and math skills. Students will work on skills in small groups with our classroom teachers and support staff so that we can provide targeted support. I have included detailed information about this practice, called Response to Intervention here: RTI at Wess
The Boosterthon Fun Run will take place on Monday, October 31! Important sign-up information and an update on our progress can be found here: Fun Run Update. Students can wear costumes if they would like, but we ask that they leave props, pretend weapons, and/or scary masks at home. Thank you for your help with this!
This week we welcomed Mrs. Kyla Asmar to Wessagusset. Mrs. Asmar is a Math and Reading Interventionist who will be supporting students in small groups as part of the Title One Program. We are excited to have her join our team!
WPS and South Shore Hospital will be hosting a “Vaping Information Night” on October 26th from 6-7:30 at the Maria Weston Chapman School. Information can be found here: Vaping Information Night
Wondering how your child’s day went? Here are some great questions to ask to encourage them to share about their dayl: Going Beyond How Was Your Day?

Teachers will be sending home Parent Conference sign-up information on November 1st.

The Parent Council is calling all bakers!! We are looking for donations of baked goods to sell at a bake sale to be held on Election Day (11/8/22) at the school. Your baked goods can be dropped off at the Bingo event the evening before.
We are still in need of volunteers to assist with the sale of the baked goods on 11/8/22. Unfortunately, children cannot accompany the volunteers. If you are able to help with the bake sale table please sign up below or reach out to a member of the parent council eboard: https://signup.com/go/MzTZsP
It’s never too early to start thinking about the Holiday Shop. This is a Wessagusset tradition where students can shop for their family and friends. This special event relies heavily on donations from our Wessagusset community. So if you’re out and about and see good deals on small items that would be appropriate for our holiday shop event, please consider purchasing them to donate. If you're crafty, it's never too early to start making crafts to donate for the sale.
