We’re excited for Field Day on Thursday, May 28th! The weather is forecasted to be beautiful and it will be a fantastic way to end the 2025-2026 school year! A few important items and reminders to make this an unforgettable day for everyone:

If you are volunteering for any of the shifts:

• Please arrive at Welch no later than ten minutes prior to the start time and check in at the Main Office with your ID; we will give you a badge that you will need to wear while you are at school.

• All volunteers will have a station assigned with clear directions for each of the activities.

• Each White Tiger House will be rotating through six different stations, including a popsicle station!

Some other general Field Day Reminders:

• Flavor Ice popsicles will be provided for our students to enjoy as they rest and cool down during one of their Field Day stations. If you don’t wish for your child to partake in the popsicle, please complete the form linked below by noon on Wednesday, May 27th.

• To add to the fun of the day, students in grades K-4 will be receiving a special Welch t-shirt, provided by our amazing PTA, and we ask that they wear active clothes with proper gym shoes. Fifth graders will be asked to wear their fifth grade t-shirt on Field Day.

• Sunscreen – We will be outside for Field Day and lunch, so sunscreen can be very important. Please note that a teacher may NOT put sunscreen on your child. Students should come with sunscreen applied.
• Water Bottle – Students will want to stay hydrated, so please send them with a water bottle for Field Day!

• Students will have the fun of having a picnic lunch outside on Field Day and will get to eat with their White Tiger Houses! Students are invited to bring a beach towel to sit on outside and will bring a lunch from home or purchase a lunch as usual, but please note different lunch times for Thursday, May 28th:

Aurora House (KM, 1M, 2MK, 3B, 4C, 5A) - 10:55 - 11:30 AM

Valor House (KK, 1C, 2EK, 3J, 4O, 5N) - 11:40 AM - 12:15 PM

Ember House (KH, 1B, 2O, 3A, 4L, 5P) - 12:20 - 12:55 PM

Harmony House (KC, 1W, 2V, 3M, 4K, 5K) - 1:00 - 1:35 PM

We warmly invite our fifth grade families to join us for one of our most cherished traditions—the Fifth Grade Clap Out—on the last day of school, Thursday, May 28th. Our students will take their final lap through the halls of Welch Elementary, cheered on by staff and younger classmates, before heading outside to circle the back of the building at approximately 3:15 PM. Families are encouraged to gather there to celebrate this special milestone as we honor their transition from elementary to middle school. It’s a meaningful moment filled with pride, reflection, and excitement for what’s ahead—we hope you can join us!

Registration for the upcoming school year is now open, and we encourage all families to complete the process as soon as possible! ALL families should register if they are remaining in IPSD 204 for the upcoming school year. Early registration helps us plan for class placements, staffing, and resources to ensure a smooth and successful start for every student. Taking a few minutes to register now makes a big difference in helping us prepare for another amazing year together. This is a completely optional service we are offering to families; supply kits that are ordered will be shipped directly to your home!

Yearbooks are in and will be distributed to those students who purchased one on Wednesday, May 27th. If you are not sure if you ordered one, please reach out to Jennifer Daunis (jennifer_daunis@ipsd.org).If you did not order a yearbook and would like to purchase one, please send $20 cash with your child and have them deliver it to the main office. We will collect the money, take their name, and they will receive one on Wednesday when yearbooks are distributed. There are a limited number of yearbooks, so act quickly!
