A Note from the Office

Dear Parmenter Community,

There are lots of important fliers and forms and tidbits of information below, so I will keep this initial letter brief. I'd like to bring attention to the Directory as this is the final opportunity choose to have your information included. Also, the Book Fair is coming up soon and we're always excited about the various seasonal events happening at the school and around the community.

Please enjoy the long weekend!

Be well,

Evan Chelman, Principal

Book Fair: October 21-29 Book Fair: October 21-29

Get ready—the Scholastic Book Fair is coming to Parmenter, October 21-29. This is a great opportunity to connect with your child over the thrill of bringing home new books to dive into again and again. Studies show that kids read more when they choose books for themselves. And fostering a love of independent reading leads to a wide variety of benefits—including academic success and improved mental health.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Book Fair:

Dates: Oct 21st - Oct 29th - During class Library Times

Location: Parmenter Library

Family Event schedule and location: Pumpkin Stroll October 23rd 6pm-7:30

There’s even more info on our school’s Book Fair homepage:

https://www.scholastic.com/bf/parmenter

While you’re there, set up a Book Fair eWallet, the digital payment account that allows your child to shop for books at the Fair without cash. Then share your eWallet link so friends and extended family can add funds.

When you fund an eWallet, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to a giving initiative called Share the Fair™. Your contributions directly support our students who need help buying books

from the Fair.

Photos of all of the contestants' fire hydrants will be posted on the DPW Facebook page and voting will take place from October 7th to the 18th. Winners in the under 12, 12-17, and 18+ age groups will be announced live at noon at The DPW's Touch A Truck event on October 26th. You know what to do!

Unity Day: October 16 Unity Day: October 16

Wednesday 10/16- Unity Day- We encourage everyone to wear orange to show a message of support and in honor of Nationals Bullying Prevention Month.

Unity Day was started by PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center in October 2011. It’s the signature event of National Bullying Prevention Month. This is a day when we can come together in one giant, ORANGE message of hope and support. The call to action is simple: wear and share the color orange. This vibrant statement becomes a conversation starter, showing support for students and people who have been bullied and for bullying prevention.

Dismissal Reminder! Dismissal Reminder!

As a reminder, if you need to change your student's dismissal on a given day, please send in a note and/or call the office. We understand that emergencies happen, but please try to make these changes no later than 2:00PM. Thank you for understanding that getting 312 students home safe and sound each day is our number one priority and we know we have your support with this.
