Celebrating Our Retirees!

As we approach the end of the school year, we prepare to say a bittersweet farewell to three dedicated educators who have left a positive imprint on the East Moline community.

Jeff Fairweather, our Principal, is retiring after a remarkable 32-year tenure in the district. From his early days teaching social studies in Bennet, Iowa, to leading both Bowlesburg Elementary and Glenview Middle School, Jeff has been a pillar of leadership. In his next chapter, he plans to tackle his 7th RAGBRAI (annual bike ride across Iowa) and hike the Camino de Santiago in Spain. He leaves us with a simple, powerful reminder: always lead with grace and support one another.

We also celebrate Jennifer Greene, who has spent her career fostering growth in our youngest learners. Jennifer began her journey in early childhood special education in Galesburg before finding her home here in East Moline. While she has cherished watching her kindergarteners flourish each year, she is now looking forward to a new role: grandmother. Jennifer plans to move to Boise, Idaho, to be with her family and new grandbaby, and she wants our community to know how much she has truly enjoyed the connections she made during her time here.

Finally, we honor Maggie Mroz, who has spent the last 7 years of her career as a vital part of the East Moline district. Originally a special education resource teacher in Lyons, Maggie found a true passion for teaching reading at Glenview Middle School. Maggie is looking forward to resting and subbing in the fall. She frequently shares that East Moline is a wonderful place to live and work.

We thank Jeff, Jennifer, and Maggie for their years of service and wish them nothing but joy and relaxation in their well-deserved retirements!
