Dear DMS Families,

As we move into next week, please note that much of the below information is similar to last week. However, you will find further information on signing up for Parent Conferences below. If you have any questions about signing- up, you can reach out to your child's grade level Team Leader.

It is hard to believe that it is already Thanksgiving break. As a reminder, school will be closed beginning with a half day on Wednesday, November 27th (dismissal is 11:35 a.m). School will resume on Monday, December 2nd.

Also, as we close out November, please consider supporting the Dighton PTO in any one of the below events that are being advertised. The PTO is currently hosting a November Fundraiser for DMS, as well as looking for volunteers for their annual Secret Santa Workshop in December. If you would like to make a monetary donation to the fundraiser, students can turn it in to their homeroom teachers, who will turn them in to the main office. For the Secret Santa event, the PTO is looking for both adult and student volunteers. There is further information below, and a separate email went home last week to grades 7 and 8 families regarding student volunteers.

Please also find the November Wellness Newsletter here, and information on the Wellness Cookbook here.

Wishing all of our DMS families a restful Thanksgiving Break! Have a great weekend!

Reminder to Families Reminder to Families

Dear DR Families,

As you may know, Massachusetts now provides free breakfast and lunch for all students across the Commonwealth!

We are encouraging families who may have qualified for the National Free & Reduced School Lunch Program in the past to complete the online application. This helps determine eligibility and ensures that we can continue to offer reduced or waived fees for various programs and activities. When completing the application, please remember to include consent for sharing your status with relevant departments and programs.

Without this qualification and your consent, we will be unable to provide reduced or waived fees.

Thank you for your cooperation!

DMS Holiday Assistance DMS Holiday Assistance

As we start to move into the holiday season, we are reaching out to all families regarding holiday assistance. Please be sure to let us know if your family could benefit from any food assistance around the holidays by completing this form no later than November 20th for Thanksgiving assistance and December 13th for December holiday assistance. All requests for assistance will be kept confidential.

Sandy Hook Promise- Start with Hello Assemblies Sandy Hook Promise- Start with Hello Assemblies

Over the course of the last year, we have been working collaboratively with members of the Sandy Hook Promise to get their organization into our middle schools for assemblies in Grades 6-8. As many of you know, the Sandy Hook Promise is a national non-profit organization founded and led by several family members of those who tragically passed away at Sandy Hook Elementary School as a result of school violence in 2012. This organization aims to empower youth to “know the signs” and take action against violence in schools. The program hopes to ensure that “children feel more secure, connected and emotionally intelligent” as a result of the program. Please see below on their Start with Hello initiative, "...a prevention program that teaches children and teens how to be more socially inclusive and connected to each other."

Technology Repair Fees Technology Repair Fees

Dear Families,

We hope this message finds you well. As part of our commitment to maintaining our technology resources, we wanted to inform you about our updated repair fee structure. This will go into effect on October 28, 2024. These fees help us cover the cost of repairs when school-issued devices are damaged due to misuse or carelessness. The fees are divided into three tiers, depending on the extent of the damage:

  • Level 1: Charger, Cover (top or bottom), Touchpad, etc- $40
  • Level 2: Keyboard, Monitor- $75
  • Level 3: Total Loss/Replacement- $300

We encourage students to handle their devices with care to avoid any damage and the associated costs. If a device does require repair, the appropriate fee will be communicated to you along with the steps to resolve the issue.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support in keeping our technology in great condition!

In addition, if your child needs Chromebook repairs, you will receive an email directly from mySchoolBucks regarding payment.
