Welcome from Dr. Vondran
It's a great day to be a Carl Sandburg Family Member
It’s a great day to be a Carl Sandburg Middle School family member! We’re so excited to cheer on our fall sports teams as they head into playoffs—good luck to all our student athletes, we’re proud of you! Parent-Teacher Conferences are just around the corner, and we look forward to the chance to sit down with you and talk about how your child is doing this school year. I’d also love your input on a quick survey (also linked below) to share the best times for me to connect with parents about CSMS. Your feedback means a lot and helps us make sure we’re always working together to support our students.
Let’s make it a great week, Tigers and Tiger Families!

Construction Update
Construction continues at CSMS. It has been moving along quickly. We have needed to move the fences over the sidewalks so we have created a space for our students to walk safely. There will be supervision to make sure that our students are safe. Please see the pictures below to help visualize the walkway. Contact me with any questions.
Please click here for updates on the project.
Thank you for all the support.
Custodian Appreciation Day
Our custodians are the heart of our school, keeping everything clean, safe, and welcoming every single day. Their hard work makes a huge difference, and we are so grateful for all that they do. As Custodian Appreciation Day approaches, we are excited to celebrate them! Families and students can join us by saying thank you, drawing a special note, or simply sharing a smile to show how much we appreciate their dedication and care.

As part of the Health/Safety Curriculum and in accordance with the state law, Erin’s Law, students at Carl Sandburg Middle School will be participating in presentations based on the Teen Assault Prevention Program (TAPP). Please see this letter for further explanation. See me with any questions.
Bilingual Parent Advisory Council (BPAC)
District 75 has established a Bilingual Parent Advisory Committee (BPAC). A BPAC is a state-required committee when a district or school has a bilingual education program, including a Dual Language program. The purpose of this state required committee is to help facilitate communication between the bilingual parents and the district and to provide opportunities to discuss/provide input on the Dual Language and Multilingual programs. This district-wide committee is composed of families and community members whose children are enrolled in the Dual Language or Multilingual Programs, D75 teachers, Parent Coordinators from each school, and the Director of Linguistic Programs.
The BPAC meets regularly beyond the required four times per year. BPAC plans for family engagement, family education, and cultural events to support the multilingual community. The group creates specific goals each year based on identified family needs, discusses multilingual programs by building, suggests additional topics for upcoming parent education programs and reviews the district’s annual TBE/TPI application.
Please consider joining our BPAC and attending the meetings.

Co Ed Soccer: On Wednesday, in their last regular season match, the 7th graders traveled to Milburn Middle School. The game would prove to be no easy task as Milburn scored first for a one to nill lead. Matvi Bodnarchuk would even the game with a masterful left footed shot past the Milubrn goalkeeper. The game would eventually end with the Tigers securing a 1-1 tie.
The 8th graders got off to a very quick start with Aidan Garcia putting one past the Milburn goalkeepr for a 1 to 0 Tiger lead in the opening minutes. Cam Hodges would later score with a nifty goal between the keepers legs. Milburn would inch close with a goal of their own, but the Tigers put it away with two late goals, both from Emi Baron. Next up for both 7th and 8th grade is the conference tournament next week.
Here are the schedules for the Cross Country, Co Ed Soccer, and Girls Volleyball.
