Dear Onahan Community,
Dear Onahan Community,
For those that made it to McTeacher Night, we had so much fun! Thank you for supporting the PTO and the school. You made it successful, and you are generous. By the way, I like my principal job way better!
EVENTS THIS WEEK
If you can make it, I am hoping to see you at the Local School Council meeting Thursday night and the Back to School Movie Night on Friday!
SAFETY DRILLS
Annually, Onahan completes an Emergency Plan which is filed with the Safety and Security Department of CPS, and is on hand to share with the local CPD and CFD. As required by the State of Illinois, students and staff practice safety drills to help with "muscle memory" in regards to protocol for each drill. We have already completed our first Fire Drill with the Chicago Fire Department, and we passed with flying colors. October 3rd at 10:00 am, we will have a Hard Lock Down Drill with the 16th District Chicago Police Department. Teachers review with the students in a sensitive and age appropriate way for what is expected in the drill. If you have questions or concerns please reach out to your child's homeroom teacher so they can speak to the directions they give. Other drills that we practice are Shelter in Place, and we watch a video for the Evacuation of a bus.
ASSESSMENT SCORES
Onahan's beginning-of-year testing (i-Ready & STAR360) is wrapping up next week! These assessments help us see where your child is starting and how we can best support their growth this year. Look for your student's scores in folders and/or book bags soon. Allresults will be sent home by October 1st.

HAVE YOU PAID SCHOOL FEES?
If you haven’t already, please take a moment to pay your school fees. The fees help support our new HMH Into Reading and Into Literature curriculum—resources not fully covered by our budget. Thanks to the PTO and Friends of Onahan, we’ve received generous support, but family contributions are still needed to ensure all students have what they need. If your child qualifies for free lunch, you can request a waiver from the main office. Thank you for helping make this possible!
To pay student fees go to Epay (or go to onahanschool.org main page, very top corner) and use the chart below. You can select the option of One Time Payment rather than creating an account or logging in. You will need one student ID, and if you are a current student, that can be found on Aspen’s parent portal, a progress report or report card. If you are not able to pay the fees, please contact the main office at (773) 534-1180.
