DRIVER'S ED
August Driver's Ed is filling up quickly. If you have a student who is 14 1/2 years old and interested in taking Driver's Ed, you can get them signed up for the class.
It is at 6:45 AM, cost is $25 (as long as they haven't failed any IDLA courses). You can send your student to the Bookstore with payment or call to make a payment over the phone to get your student in the next available class.
Remember that this $25 payment is to hold your spot in the class and is nonrefundable. If you are not able to attend the class, you need to let Niki in the Bookstore know beforehand so that she can fill the spot and get you switched into a different class.
If you don't show up on the 1st day of class and haven't made any other arrangements you will have to pay the $25 again and be placed into the next available class.
YEARBOOKS
BHS Yearbooks will be handed out during Club Carnival on May 14th, if you haven't already purchased them do so now! We only have 100 left up for grabs. They are on a first come first serve basis, there is a limited quantity and we cannot order more. The cost is $85.00. Make your purchase in the Bookstore.
SOCIAL STUDIES DEPARTMENT
The Social Studies Department added a new elective offering in the spring of 2024. Having nearly completed this school year, the class was a great success and we are excited to offer it again next year. The class is called Crimes and Society and is co-taught by teacher Chase James and SRO Jon Hay. The class was designed to bridge gaps in understanding between society and law enforcement and challenge the perception of how a community and law enforcement evaluate criminal interactions. There is a heavy presence of law enforcement views in the course, and we have had a slew of guest speakers offer their insight and expertise. Our guest speakers, many of which can be seen in pictures below, include the mayor of Blackfoot, FBI, SWAT, drug dog and handler, Fish and Game, Border Patrol, Bingham County Prosecutors, Tribal police, and an array of other local law enforcement.
PHOTOGRAPHY CLASS
The photography classes have had a great time photographing various events and activities this spring. Here are just a few photos we wanted to share with you. Contact Mrs. Kotter if you have any ideas you would like to photograph and we will see what we can do.
AUTOS CLUB
The Auto Club is proud of our state competitors. Among them, Ava Savage has distinguished herself as the State Champion in the SkillsUSA Automotive Service Technology Competition. She has demonstrated exceptional skills across multiple automotive service domains including Engine repair, Differential diagnostics, Brake service, Steering and Suspension, Electrical/Electronic systems, Engine performance, Job Interview skills, and Hybrid Technology. Ava will represent Blackfoot High School, our local community, and the state of Idaho at the national level. She will be competing in Atlanta Georgia during the week of June 23-27th. Ava is considering a career in the automotive field. Her hard work has paid off as she has been awarded almost $28,000 in Scholarships to various trade schools and colleges throughout the state and country. We are proud of her outstanding achievement and wish her the best of luck at the national competition.
