We had a fantastic Beach Day last week! The weather could not have been better, and our students represented Ipswich Middle School exceptionally well. Their behavior throughout the day and the respect they showed for Crane Beach and its property were outstanding. Maintaining this level of responsibility and stewardship helps ensure that this unique 114-year tradition can continue for future IMS students.

Another cherished Beach Day tradition is the annual Run for the Sun. Congratulations to 7th grader Mason Dos Santos, who was the top finisher among the boys, and 8th grader Mia Dugdale, who was the top finisher among the girls. Both Mason and Mia were also the fastest runners in their respective grade levels. Congratulations as well to 6th grader Rowan Joss, who earned top honors among all 6th-grade participants.

Thank you to all of our students and staff for making Beach Day such a memorable and successful event!

Last week I had emailed everyone a survey about their child's chromebook usage. We have been seeing studeies and articles regarding the effects of too much screen time for teenagers and are looking at our own practices. So far only 61 people have filled out the survey, if you would like us to consider your opinion please fill out the survey which can be accessed here.

We still have so many items in our lost and found. Tomorrow morning is the last chance to claim any of these lost items. After the students are dismissed all remaining items will be donated to charity. Please remind your student to go to the main entrance vestibule to claim their items.

I know that there are some very organized folks out there who would like to have this sooner than later so I am attaching the school supply lists for each grade here.

We will once again be having our Tiger Tales summer reading this year. Over the course of the summer we ask each student to read at least one of the six books that were chosen this year and we will have book group discussions and activities about the book in the fall. The books are available at the Public Library, Tidal Pages Book Shop, Amazon, and a small number of them will be available at school to check out for a two week time period from the main office over the summer. If your student played an interscholastic sport, Cross-Country, Field Hockey, or Track, we need to have their jersey turned back in. They can return it to their coach or to the main office. If your child feels that they have lost theirs, please contact Ms. Henderson for the replacement cost at khenderson@ipsk12.net. Students who have not returned theirs will have their yearbooks withheld until they do so. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

If your child has not ordered a yearbook and would like to purchase one, please see Ms. Henderson in the Main Office. The cost is $24 for a soft cover and $28 for hard cover. They are available on a first- come, first-serve basis.

If your child will not be attending either Ipswich Middle School or Ipswich High School for the upcoming school year, please notify Mrs. Henderson via email at khenderson@ipsk12.net as soon as possible.

Upon notification, she will provide you with the official withdrawal form. This completed documentation is required by law in order for us to release and transfer your student's academic and health records to their next school.
