Dear Induction Candidates and Mentors,

Welcome to Induction! We are so happy that you'll be joining us this year.

Each week, I will be sending out a weekly Induction Update Newsletter on Mondays. Please take a few minutes to review it each week, as it will have important updates for the week ahead.

Our Induction program is made up of new teachers from Fullerton, Buena Park and La Habra school districts. I hope you will take advantage of the fantastic opportunity to collaborate with your peers from all three neighboring districts.

The first steps to Induction involve completing your Eligibility Forms (candidates and mentors). Thank you to those of you who have completed yours. Once you have completed your Forms, ALL new candidates should be scheduling an Intake Interview with Trish Chiles. Once this meeting has taken place, she will send you information about your Candidate-Mentor match.

As soon as you know who your Candidate/Mentor is, please connect with one another and begin meeting. Each Candidate-Mentor pair is required by the state to meet for a minimum of one hour per week. This can be done in person, over text, email, phone calls, etc. For now the topic of your meetings will be "Just In Time Support" which is the state's way of saying anything and everything that you need help with!

Our first Mentor Training is coming up on Wednesday August 26 from 4:00-6:00 pm. I will share the Agenda in next week's Weekly Message.

We meet in person at Orangethorpe Elementary School. For this meeting we will be meeting in the MPR. Please review the linked MAP for instructions on where to park (if the lot is full, pull onto the basketball court) and where to find the MPR.

As you are getting to know one another, take a moment to check out our website (linked) or go to https://bit.ly/FSDInductionResources. Please bookmark the website as it is the easiest place to find Induction information.

All candidates and mentors were provided a spreadsheet for the year of Induction. Please be sure the first tab is completed. This information is all required by the state as part of our enrollment process. If you have any questions, please contact Trish at patricia_chiles@myfsd.org

Within CSTP 2 you will consider the learning environment, student behavior, organizational and resource management, and an inclusive environment.

Practically, this may mean co-creating "Community Agreements" so they feel a sense of belonging from day one. If you haven't already done this, today would be a perfect opportunity! See below for some examples:

This week spend time getting to know one another.

• Discuss your meeting preferences
• Communication methods
• Establish appropriate timeframes for phone calls and texts.
• Discuss what is important to each of you, family information, likes/dislikes.
• What do you have in common? How are you different from one another?

In addition, be sure to start discussing:

• Classroom Routines/Management (CSTP 2)
• Instructional Environment (Safety) and Room Setup (CSTP 2)
• Procedures

Looking at your community agreements and routines, how are you explicitly teaching students to take care of one another and the physical space?
