CME PTO Weekly

Fall Fundraiser Kicks Off Next Week!
Our annual Fall Fundraiser is kicking off next week, on September 8th! We are excited to bring back the platform that we used last year, FundHub, which allowed us to keep 97% of the funds that we raised! Please keep an eye out for information coming home in your child’s Thursday folder next week, as well as on our social media and emails from the school. We will be welcoming back Ninja Nation and their mobile obstacle course on September 25th, and the kids are going to have a blast! This is generally our largest fundraiser for the year, so we really appreciate your donations and we hope to raise $30,000. We can’t wait for all the fun that’s coming in the next few weeks!
PTO Meeting 9/2
Our first PTO meeting was yesterday, and we went over the grants that the teachers and staff have requested for the Fall semester. We approved $8,500 for things like extra classroom learning supplies, field trips, teacher conferences, playground equipment, supplemental curriculum and more! We also talked about ideas for fundraising, ideas for the Son Event, and had great interest in our open committees. We are so excited to work with those of you who signed up to help us plan things! We hope you'll all join us for our next meeting on Zoom, October 7th at 7pm.
Donuts With Grownups
One of our favorite community events is coming up this month - Donuts With Grownups! Please join us on the front lawn before school on September 17th, from 8:00-8:30am. If you are able to join us, please RSVP HERE so we know how many donuts to get, and if you have any allergy considerations.
Staff Scoop at Cold Stone
Another one of our favorite Spirit Nights is returning this month at Cold Stone! Come see your teachers and staff members scoop and mix your favorite creations, all while giving back to Copper Mesa. Mark your calendars for September 29th, from 4-7pm, and we will update you with a schedule of which staff will be scooping at what times.
In-N-Out Truck
We were lucky to be selected to host the In-N-Out Truck again this year! This is an amazing fundraiser for us, where they give us 75% of the profits, and donate the remainder to their charity for underprivileged children. We hope you'll join us on October 2nd, from 5-7pm to enjoy some dinner and hang with your friends and neighbors! You MUST pre-order a ticket, which you can do HERE. For $8 you will get a burger or cheeseburger, chips and a drink. They are served as is, unless there is an allergy. We need to give them a head count a week before the event, so ticket sales will END on 9/24. Don't miss out!!
CME Garden Project
Things are starting to fall into place with the Outdoor Learning Garden project! The biggest update is that Home Depot approved our grant and is going to generously donate more than $10,000 worth of supplies for the space. We have scheduled a workday on Tuesday, September 22 from 9 AM - 3 PM in which they will provide a team of experts to help us level the space, build a beautiful pathway, install irrigation, and plant more than 140 native plants and fruit trees.
The plants and fruit trees have been generously donated by Resource Central, the DCSD Office of Sustainability, and the Douglas County Conservation District.
The Girl Scouts were so excited to present the plans for the garden to the teachers this past week as part of their Silver Award Project! Kate and Kylie gifted them with two gardening kits, three outdoor investigation kits, and sample outdoor lesson plans that can be checked out of the science room throughout the year.
Our next step is to recruit volunteers for the Home Depot workday. We know that a weekday is not ideal, but that's when Home Depot has team members available to help with materials, expertise, and hands-on support.
Many employers offer paid volunteer time, community service days, or VTO (Volunteer Time Off), so we are hoping some parents will be able to join us for a 2-3 hour shift that day.
Here is a link to the Signup Genius if you would like to join us in making this brand new garden space a reality! Thank you in advance!

Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students): Ongoing
Watch D.O.G.S. is a program that gives dads the opportunity to spend either a half or whole day in the building with their children. You will help in classrooms and go to lunch and recess with your child.
The purpose of the program:
- To provide positive male role models for the students, demonstrating by their presence that education is essential.
- To provide extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security and reduce bullying. All dads are encouraged to be a Watch D.O.G.S. Dad at least once a year.
Sign up to volunteer HERE . Please direct any questions about the program to Jeff Stebel, (303) 880-8224, jeffrey.stebel@gmail.com
COPPER MESA YEARBOOK
Help us create a memorable yearbook by sharing your pictures with our yearbook committee. This can be at school events, spirit rock, class parties, class field trips, school clubs, etc. Please email photos to coppermesayearbook@gmail.com and include your child’s name and teacher.
KING SOOPERS CARDS
One of our biggest and easiest fundraisers has proven to be King Soopers Cards. In just over a year our total donation received is in excess of $15,000. If you haven’t registered your rewards number (phone number) yet, please do so, it’s quick and easy and a great way to earn funds for our school. This money helps us to pay for teacher and school grants and host some of our events.
