Adventure Family Newsletter: September 11, 2026
Dear Adventure Families,
What a week! The energy around strong attendance reached an all-time high when the Denver Broncos came to Adventure on Wednesday! As a proud member of the Denver Broncos Attendance Network, we were thrilled to welcome the Broncos cheerleaders, members of the drumline, Montee Ball, and, of course, Miles the Mascot. Students who were at school that day received special gifts and joined in a hallway pep rally that was so loud, it practically shook the light fixtures!
And while the Broncos visit was a fun reminder of why showing up matters, the research behind attendance is even more powerful. Students who miss fewer than two days of school in September are much more likely to maintain strong attendance throughout the entire school year. In fact, about half of students who miss two to four days in September go on to miss a month or more of school over the course of the year—a pattern known as chronic absence.
We are incredibly proud that Adventure’s attendance improvements are leading the district, and we know that being here every day makes a real difference in students’ academic growth and achievement. Thank you for partnering with us to help our students show up, learn, grow, and make the most of every day at Adventure!
Saludos,
Sarah & Marisa

Adventure's Annual Fun Run Fundraiser is September 17!
Thank you for each of the donations to our Fun Run Fundraiser so far! We are 43% towards our goal of $13,000 for this year's field trips, Honor Roll celebrations, attendance incentives, and other student motivation rewards! Ms. Moya's 2nd grade class has pulled into the lead, followed by Ms. Maria's AM PK class and then Ms. Ackerman's 5th graders! Each class that reaches their classroom goal gets a prize! Donate here!
We welcome families to join us and cheer on the students while they run! The schedule is below, please note that students don't run for the entire time slot as this includes time for the kids to warm-up, run, and cool down with a popsicle and enjoy some extra playtime. If you're able to volunteer, we'd love to have you join us!
The Adventure Community Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month
Next week begins Hispanic Heritage Month! Starting on September 15, on the independence anniversary of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua, our community will celebrate the history and culture of the Hispanic and Latino communities. Throughout the month, we'll honor the contributions of the Hispanic and Latino people.
At Adventure, classes will learn from guest speakers, listen to stories, and participate in learning activities about these topics. If you or someone you know might be interested in joining us as a special guest reader or presenter, please share this survey with them.
A Quick Reminder about Morning Arrival
We love that our families want to connect with teachers! A quick reminder that between 7:50 and 8:03, teachers are actively supervising students and helping them get ready for a successful day of learning. Because this is an important time for teachers to be focused on students, we ask that families who need to have a conversation with a teacher schedule a time to meet or send a message through the App. This allows teachers to give your question the attention it deserves while also making sure they are fully present with students during arrival.
If you do need to catch a teacher during arrival, please know that it is completely okay if they say, “I can’t talk right now, but send me a message and we’ll find a better time!” They may also ask you to send your question so they can follow up later in the day.
Thank you for helping us protect this important time for students and teachers!
Extracurricular Clubs Updates
Clubs start this Monday, September 14th! If you registered your student, you should have received a confirmation email from Elaine Proulx on Wednesday, 9/9. If you did not receive that email, please contact Elaine at proulxe@mapleton.us.
Haven’t signed up your student(s) yet? It’s not too late! Fill out this application form to get started.
Introducing: K-3 Biliteracy Book Backpacks
In response to parent and community request, we are excited to launch our new K–3 Biliteracy Book Backpack Program to encourage reading and listening at home in both Spanish and English! Each backpack will be checked out from our school library and will include a selection of audiobooks and decodable texts for students to enjoy and practice with their families. Before your child can borrow a Biliteracy Book Backpack, a parent or guardian must complete this consent form. Thank you in advance for caring for the backpack and all the materials inside it and returning everything in good condition for others to enjoy.
We are grateful to have been awarded a library grant from the Colorado Department of Education last spring that provided the funds for these special instructional materials.
