OUR CHRISTIAN VALUE THIS HALF-TERM

CHILDREN IN NEED

We are celebrating Children In Need in school by focussing on well-being. We are looking forward to lots of energetic, fun activities next week. On Friday, your child may come in their own clothes or in their school uniform. Donations of £1 appreciated which go directly to CIN. Many thanks.

REMEMBRANCE DAY AND POPPY APPEAL

This year, we are holding our Remembrance Day Service with Revd Jacki virtually with both schools. The oldest boy and girl in the school are going to lay a wreath at the Waggoners' Memorial in the village. We would ask that you don't join us this year due to the lockdown.

Children are able to donate to the Royal British Legion appeal and can buy poppies, pencils, wrist bands and badges to support this very worthy cause.

ASSESSMENTS 2020/21

Current indications are that statutory assessments will take place as planned this year. These include: Year 1 Phonics Screening; Year 2 SATs; Year 4 Multiplication Tables Check and Year 6 SATs. The children in Year 2 will also be required to complete a Phonics Screening Check before the Christmas holidays. We will update you in due course.

OUR CREATIVE CURRICULUM - STICKY LEARNING AT ITS BEST

Class 1

Pictures from our visit to the woods. We hugged a tree! Made bark rubbings and built fairy houses.

Class 2

We started our unit on light this week. We investigated how light travels using large boxes, which we will be making a puppet show out of. We also investigated how we can see colour in bubbles using torches. Everyone loved it and learnt lots!

Class 3

We investigated the question, ‘Is green really green?’ We used the process of chromatography to separate the pigments in a mixture. We were patient scientists.

MORE FROM CLASS 3...

We learnt about multiplying a 2-digit number by a 2-digit number using the area model. We used concrete resources alongside pictorial and abstract. The children really enjoyed it.
