Campus Safety Reminder – Dogs on Campus
We need your help to keep our campus safe for all students. We’ve had reports of dogs on campus during drop-off and pick-up times. For everyone’s safety, dogs are not permitted on campus during school hours.
If you are meeting your child at dismissal, we kindly ask that dogs remain on leash and stay off the main school grounds. Please note that students are on campus until 6:00 p.m. for after-school programs.
🐕🦺 Service animals are permitted.
Thank you for your understanding and support in keeping Dewey a safe and welcoming place for all!
Thank you Dirk Verdoorn!
3rd Grade students had the honor of welcoming Dirk Verdoorn, a KCRA meteorologist, to speak with them about weather. He explained the “ingredients” of weather and what makes it happen, including the roles of wind and the sun. He discussed extreme weather, what clouds are made of, the states of matter, the water cycle, and how winds can help produce electricity. Students had hands-on opportunities to create and imitate hail and to observe static electricity (lightning) using balloons. The presentation was engaging and aligned with what we have been learning in class. The students had a great time, and it was a wonderful day of learning!
Kindness Week Spirit Days!
Spreading Kindness This February
As part of our focus on kindness and community service, students will be creating Valentine cards and collecting new blankets for children receiving care at Shriners Children’s Hospital in conjunction with NorCal Gift From the Heart. Tuesday, February 10th is the last day to donate. Thank you to all those who have already donated to this wonderful cause.
Dewey's Kindness Week Theme this year is Kindness Starts With Us — and Spreads Beyond Us!" We can show kindness in a variety of ways. Check out next week's Spirit Days in honor of Kindness week.

RaiseRight Update: Halfway Through the Year!
We're halfway through the school year, and it's exciting to see how teachers have been putting their RaiseRight funds to work in the classroom! So far this school year, teachers have used their accounts to purchase:
- Classroom books and library additions
- Essential classroom supplies
- Materials for specific projects and activities
- PE equipment and supplies
- Prize box goodies
- Math learning aides
- Vocabulary learning aides
Best of all, these are resources that didn't have to come out of teachers' personal pockets!
What is RaiseRight?
RaiseRight turns your everyday shopping into earnings for your child's classroom. When you purchase gift cards through RaiseRight, a percentage comes back as earnings—80% goes directly to your child's teacher's classroom account, and 20% goes into your family account to use toward school expenses like field trips. It's never too late to join!
