Bengal Bulletin - September 2026
The Principal’s Paw-print
Finish the song lyric: Do you remember...
Dear Bengal Families,
Welcome to September! As we move further into the school year, our campus calendar is packed with exciting events and opportunities to get involved. Our student-athletes are working hard, and Volleyball, Football, and Cross Country seasons are all in full swing. Please make sure to regularly check the online campus calendar so you do not miss a game or event. We hope to see our stands full of fans cheering on our Bengals!
Along with the energy of fall activities, we need your help in keeping our school community safe and healthy. We have seen a recent uptick in illnesses, resulting in several students needing to be sent home due to fevers or vomiting. To help us stop the spread of germs across classrooms, please review these essential health practices with your child:
Frequent Handwashing: Remind your student to wash their hands thoroughly with soap and warm water throughout the day, especially before eating and after using the restroom.
No Sharing Food or Drinks: Encourage your child to keep all snacks, meals, and water bottles to themselves. Sharing food is one of the quickest ways germs spread among peers.
Staying Home When Sick: If your child is running a fever or experiencing stomach distress, please keep them home. Students must be fever-free without fever-reducing medication for 24 hours before returning to campus.
Thank you for your continued partnership, support, and dedication to keeping our campus active, healthy, and thriving.
Warmly,
#BriscoeProud
#BengalExcellence
Mr. Bishop
While NISD has asked voters to approve bond issuances in the past to address aging facilities, it has never put a VATRE on the ballot. So, what is the difference?
While a VATRE and bond election are often discussed together, they serve different purposes.
Voter-Approval Tax Rate Election (VATRE)
A VATRE is designed to provide additional funding for a school district’s day-to-day operations. If approved by voters, the additional revenue would support the district’s contingent (pay) employee compensation plan for this current school year, and help reduce the district’s budget deficit.
Bond Election
A bond election is different from a VATRE. Bonds are used to fund major, long-term capital investments in facilities, infrastructure, technology, and other large-scale projects.

Dismissal Reminders
Parent Pick Up in the front, Bus Riders in the back.
Parents,
Please help us remind your students that only Parent Pick up and students walking home should exit the school through the front of the building. All bus riders should exit though the the cafeteria at the back of the campus. B-run or 2nd-run bus riders should wait in the cafeteria until their bus returns to campus to pick them up. We have had some students miss their bus because they are hanging out with friends in the front of the building after school. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
🚫No more Needoh-type fidgets please...🚫
Help us make drop off and pick better for everyone
🚗 Drop-Off & Pick-Up Reminders from Officer Gordon
Drop-Off
Pull up past the crosswalk (not right at the doors) — this lets more kids exit at once and speeds up the line.
Pick-Up (Front)
Watch the road, not for your student — let them come to you. Backups happen when drivers are scanning instead of moving forward.
Please pull forward when the line moves. Picking up your student with space in front of you slows down the pick up line and ends up causing traffic issues on Lone Star Pkwy.
Stay in your vehicle — flag a staff member if your student isn't out; don't get out to search.
Small cones = no second pickup line in the parking lot. It's fine for crosswalk parking, just don't block others in.
One pickup line only — please don't create a second lane. Exit as soon as you have your student.
Pick-Up (Back)
Stay out of the bus loop — wait in the back lot and use the rear crosswalk.
No parking/waiting in fire lanes (buses/deliveries only) — this is a high-risk area for kids darting across.
Goal: Finish pick-up by 4:15 again this year — thanks for helping us get every student home safely!

Bus Information
Attention Bus Riders:
***Update***
District has extended the date for scanning the barcode for bus riders. The campus will continue issuing student passes this week (9/8 - 9/11).
There is a new system transportation will be implementing. When getting on the bus, students will be scanning in using a scan barcode that has been given to them. Your child will need to keep their barcode and use it when they get on the bus (both morning and afternoon). Your child also has the option to download the application Here Comes the Bus, create a profile and use the app. The code for the app is 29995. Please call the campus for any questions.

Stop The Bleed Training Opportunity
State law requires independent school districts and charter schools to place bleeding control kits in schools and train certain staff members on how to stop the bleed. Districts are also required to offer stop the bleed training to students in seventh grade and above. These sessions are optional for students.
Working in collaboration with the Southwest Texas Regional Advisory Council (STRAC), the District is offering several 30-minute training sessions to middle and high school students as well as families. The offering consists of the Stop the Bleed Interactive Course and hands-on skills practice for participants. Skills gained can be used in common everyday scenarios that may cause injury and bleeding, for example yard work, cooking, and auto accidents.
Training sessions will be offered on Tuesday September 22, 2026 at the Northside Activity Center.
