Do A Job!
OCTOBER 11, 2025
We have so many positive exciting things to share from DKHS that I do not have room in this note to cover it all. Our teachers are working hard to make student learning fun, real, and relevant. Our AP Environmental Science class took a field trip to the dunes in Saugatuck. In addition to the dune ride, they took a closer look at the unique lake effect climate we have here in West Michigan and why that gives us longer growing seasons and makes us a rich environment for fruit and vegetable production. Spotting two eagles directly overhead and a group of deer playing were highlights for many kids. This week we had 10 students embark on the first FFA trip since rechartering the Delton Kellogg FFA chapter. Over the course of two days in Lansing, they learned the value of
character, stepped out of their comfort zones, and gained insight into the agricultural industry. This journey to Lansing for the Fall Leadership Conference deepened their understanding of FFA and its impact on their future.
Last Friday we had a fantastic crowd at both the parade and the homecoming game. It was so good to see families out enjoying the great weather and celebrating our kids. Congratulations to our Homecoming King Myles Hatton and our 2024 Queen Claire Wesolowski. Hats off to Ms. Dinda and thank you for your leadership over these past decades with so many student activities. Many of us will forever connect you to DK Homecoming!!
We have a new format for parent teacher conferences. We are offering similar hours but spread out over 2 days, a week apart. Tuesday October 15 th from 1-5 PM and Tuesday October 22 nd from 2-4 PM and then again that night from 5-8 PM. These will be open house formats at the HS with teachers in their rooms to allow for more privacy. Donkey Basketball is coming to the High School on October 28 th . Watch for more information for this entertaining evening that is serving as a Senior Mystery Trip fundraiser.
This week’s Hogie’s Heroes are Domanyck Harmon, Adrian Farrah, Maci Freiberg, Johanna Freiberg, Tyler Lynch, and Konner Campbell. This group worked with Mrs. Knobloch to build 8 sawhorses so that each class had two they could use while working on their homecoming banners. These kids are often active in helping with tasks that need to get done to help things run more smoothly here at the high school. We appreciate you. Also, this week we honor Emma Ritchie who volunteered to mentor/tutor an underclassman in Algebra 1. Thank you, Emma. Not your job, but that is what we mean by DO A JOB. You all make DKHS a better place.

Delton Kellogg Theater Arts Company (DKTAC)
We have show dates set; Friday, November 8th at 7:00 pm and Saturday, November 9th at 3:00 pm. Mark your calendars!!
We are off to a great start. We have completed casting and the crew has worked very hard to clean their workspace and dressing rooms. It's really shaping up and they are ready to begin their builds and to create costumes. The goal is for students with lines to learn them by next Friday.
Volunteers would be greatly appreciated. We need help with building, sewing, monitoring student work, etc. You need to register with the school to volunteer and you can sign up by clicking HERE or going to https://bit.ly/TACVolunteer.
Thank you to those who brought in snacks. The kiddos appreciate it. Click HERE for the snack sign-up or go to https://bit.ly/DKTACSNACK.
Finally, we have created an Amazon Wish List for things we need to enhance the theater program and put on an awesome performance. Click HERE to access the list and see our needs. You can also find it at https://amzn.to/4eSlVUh.
We will rehearse Friday and then on Monday, Thursday, and Friday of next week. DKTAC members may have some "homework" to keep us on track.
THANK YOU!
Thank you to Andrea Kellogg and Heidi Matteson for dedicating your time to our school grounds! We are grateful to have people like you in our community!

DKHS Marching Band
Our DKHS Marching Band has wrapped up their competitive season bringing home accomplishments to be proud of.
On September 28th, they took the field in competition at the 39th annual Otsego Band Invitational. They received 1st Place, the Best Music Caption Award and Awards of Excellence in Marching in their class.
On October 5th, they took the field in competition at the 33rd annual Hastings Marching Band Invitational. This final placing came down to the finite details of their performance as they announced an overall score tie for 2nd and 3rd place. For tie breakers, they look at the combined Music Performance and Music Effect score to determine the higher ranking. Our DK Panthers brought home that 2nd Place Trophy with Awards of Excellence in Music, Marching and Color Guard!
Good job DK!
Stay tuned for details to help send our DK Marching Band back to Hawaii in December of 2025.
