Ambler September Newsletter
Growing Stronger Together!
Attendance Matters
We are starting this newsletter with information about attendanceβand thatβs how important it is! We are going to be diligent about monitoring attendance and making sure our students are at school, ready to learn, whenever possible.
Why is attendance so important in elementary school?
- π Every day of learning matters. New skills and concepts are taught each day, and missing instruction can make it difficult for students to keep up.
- π§ Consistency builds strong academic foundations. Regular attendance helps students develop the reading, writing, math, and learning habits they need for future success.
- π€ Students need to be part of the classroom community. Being at school allows children to build friendships, work with classmates, and feel connected to their school family.
- π Attendance impacts achievement. Students who attend school regularly have more opportunities to practice skills, receive feedback, and make academic progress.
- π± Good attendance builds lifelong habits. Learning the importance of being present, dependable, and responsible starts early.
- β€οΈ We don't want students to miss out! There are so many meaningful learning experiences, celebrations, relationships, and opportunities that happen throughout the school year.
Most importantly, we love your children, and we want them here! We want every student to have the opportunity to learn, grow, build friendships, and experience all that our school has to offer. Together, we can make every school day count! π±ππ

Read to Succeed Act
The South Carolina Read to Succeed Act is a state law that helps make sure all students are strong readers by the end of third grade. Schools provide extra support for students who struggle, and families are encouraged to read at home. The goal is simple: to give every child the reading foundation they need for future success.
Attention 3rd Grade Parents: Your children will receive a letter outlining the law. Please take special note of the section of the law regarding 3rd grade retention.
