Franklin College 3rd Annual CampGRIZ
Franklin College is hosting the 3rd annual CampGRIZ this summer for upcoming 5th-10th graders, with the generous support of the Lilly Endowment Foundation. CampGRIZ will occur Monday, June 9th through Friday, June 13th. CampGRIZ is a distinctive summer camp that provides a week-long immersion at Franklin College to instill the importance of education and digital fluency in a dynamic world. Campers receive direct instruction from Franklin College professors, engage with current students and alumni, learn about financial aid and college readiness skills, and explore the myriad of advantages of higher education to empower them in achieving their aspirations. This program is more important than ever as the Indiana Department of Education has recently approved the new high school graduation pathways. As a core tenant of CampGRIZ of addressing barriers to higher education access, students who are eligible for Free or Reduced-Priced lunches and/or 21st Century Scholars can attend the camp at no cost.
Transportation via bus from downtown Indianapolis to campus has been secured to-and-from the Indianapolis Public Library-Library’s Service Center, for campers to take advantage of free transportation for camp each day. Transportation via bus for rural Johnson County residents, through Access Johnson County, for campers to take advantage of free transportation for camp each day. Gas cards are also available to reimburse parents/guardians driving campers to drop-off/pick-up their camper(s) from outside of Johnson County. Breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack will be provided at no cost to all campers.
Fall Author Visit
CG Middle School North and CG Middle School Central are excited to announce that Mr. Gordon Korman will visit Center Grove students in the fall of 2025 for our annual author visit. Mr. Korman has written over 100 books for kids and teens, selling over 35 million copies worldwide. We are excited to have him join us at Center Grove!
Each year our students read a book or books written by the visiting author. The ELA teachers and administrative staff are recommending The Unteachables, Restart, The Fort, Unsinkable(Titanic #1), and War Stories as possible books for our schools. Feel free to read and provide feedback on one or all of the books. You can also find information about these books by visiting www.goodreads.com as well as information about Gordon Korman by going to his website at https://gordonkorman.com/.
We will be collecting parent/guardian feedback via this Google Form until March 30. The Coordinator of Connected Learning, media paraprofessionals, and building administrators will review the parent feedback as part of the final process.
Copies of these books can be found at the Johnson County Public Library.
